A detailer gimmick

If you have ever been involved in some one on one sales spiels, the seller (like the Shamwow commercial) always has a gimmick test that supposedly proves why you need it.

For water softener sales people, it is doing a particulate test, chemical composition, or ph test on your water showing you what you are drinking which is the compelling story to get a whole house water softener and purifying system.

For air conditioning filtration, it is showing the dust, dander, and other crap in the the air that you are breathing and why you need to install special HEPA filters, etc.

What do detailers have who want to convince people they need some much needed paint correction? The handy Brinkman Dual Xenon lamp.

I bet if you carried this light around and shined in on some perspective customer cars some would freak at all the scratches. It is a simple and easy to do gimmick to clearly demonstrate. The light is unforgiving on paint and shows everything (all the bad).

I got one last week and I saw what I expected but boy it is a unbiased view of what is going on.

Yes. It showed me that when you wipe off paint cleaner there is still residue on the paint. I got out the 50/50 IPA and cleaned it completely off prior to the glazes, etc. I did a quick spot check after and the glaze/wax did seem to help hide them.

Have you looked in to the new fad of LED lighting? Those aren't biased either :). And can fit in a pocket--but I do love my new Brinkman!!
