This detail was done a couple weeks ago - before I had my new camera. The owner came out to see my progress and he snapped a few pics. He just sent them to me...

Before: The entire vehicle looked like this

    After:

    Misc:

Since I just purchased a new camera to replace my old one that dies on me I plan doing some more in depth show and shines like I used to as time allows!

    Looks awesome.

Wouldn't the solution to the camera dying have been buying a new battery for it to hold its charge longer?

    Wow, amazing results Jason!!!

I've got a question though... is it necessary to have Prep sol wipe downs between different polish applications? I don't quite why they're necessary. Don't get me wrong, I know what it does but why do you personally do them? :shead:

    Please educate me! :worship2:

From what I've read, and seen for myself, SIP & 106ff/fa leave behind oils/waxes that hide imperfections. Using a prep-sol/prep-all wipe down gets rid of those oils/waxes so that you can see exactly what you've accomplished with the polishing pass you just performed. Basically, it lets you really be sure whether or not you move on to the next polish or do another pass with the same polish.

Recently, before polishing my black 'stang with SIP, the water didn't bead...it sheeted off after an ABC wash. After I was done polishing, the water beaded on the surfaces that I was too lazy to wipedown with prep-all.

I know one of the pros/veterans will chime in and correct any of my misleading statements, but bottom line, I think people personally do them in the pursuit of paint perfection.

    Thanks Tonya!!

I can't take the risk of ANY lubricating agents artificially filling any of the inclusions I am trying to remedy..... This is why I do a prep sol wipe down... In my opinion it is a VERY easy step to take to ensure true correction

    Thanks Sparkie

Fair enough. I'll incorporate this technique into my regimen as well. Thanks for the clarification.

Now I'm wondering what polishes have lubricating oils and if the prep sol wipe down is necessary for polishes or only some... :shead:

Well just about all the polishes have oils in them if I remember corectly that's what lubricates the products. Besides a wipe down is a must when your trying to achive perfection, I mean it's hard to judge what you have done when you have polish residue left over and even if you give it a good wipe down with just a micro fiber towel you still miss some so it's good to get in the habit to spray the panels down with a product like prep sol...just my opinion though :peace:
