A friend called and said his sister was moving away but wanted her MkII Jetta polished before she left. He said it was a little faded. A pre polish inspection confirmed that. Luckily, I was instucted that the car need not be perfect. Only that it was for the most part, red again. I had one day to do the car. Day one (4-7pm) got the hood, roof and trunklid done. I called my trusty sidekick Terence and he agreed to pop by the next morning to help out. As we had an entire table of sample polishes and pads we had not had a chance to play with yet, we went to town. One of the suprises wax MARKV Mystique, a one step polish. It worked very well on this car in conjunction with an Orange CCS pad. After polishing, all the pads went into a 5 gallon pail of water with Tropicare Citrus Wash in it. A day later, all the pads were rinsed under warm water and came out mint! Great product. All trim was done with Poorboys Trim Restorer and tires got DG Tire Dressing One faded MkII Jetta The trunklid was polished with Gloss its Extreme Cut Plus beta on an Orange CCS pad and cleaned up with Menz Power Finish on Green. PS hood got the same as the trunklid but the GI Extreme Cut Plus was leaving hologramming ( not abnormal for a heavy polish ) so I switched to Scholl S03+ for the DS and no hologramming. Power finish helped give it a little more depth. After polishing we gave the car a coat of PB EX w/carnauba. I have to say, for an inexpensive product, it went on and off easy and made the red look really good. I used it on a new black Silverado the same day and it gave that truck a lot of depth and wetness.
Ken that came out amazing! Your pictures are a ton better as well! Seeing the pics with all the product in the background makes me mis being at your shop haha. Good work Ken!
That really is a work of art.:applause:icture: Wonderful job!! You know she's going to sell that now and make a mint right? I know I would..
I have to agree that is what you call detailing. Exotics are nice but I do love to see resurections on normal every day daily drivers. Fantastic job as always.
Great turnaround ken. And what a classic she is. Throw a set of BBS RS's on there and she'd be all set.
Holy crap, that car looks amazing! Great turn around, now its time for YOU to go up to the customer, tell him to get on his knees and do you a "favor".
Well done, great turn around :applause: That's why I enjoy detailing older vehicles or beat up vehicles becuase the end results are so drastic :thumb:
Holy chalkness Batman............... that was a restoration Ken!!! , shop is looking tidy and my wife wants to know what color you painted the walls as she wants to the living room this color, of course I could care less about the wall I just want everything on those shelves(yowsah) what a shopping spree that would be.
Ken isn't a very big guy... you hold him and I'll share the loot. You can even crash on my couch the night before so we can plan! Plus, our getaway car is quite speedy

Wow! Incredible transformation man. But tell us the truth, you didn't really polish that thing did you, you just used BH AB. :
Anytime you want to come shopping, you just let me know. You ARE lagging behind as I think everyone else on this forum has purchased here already. :waiting: Nice to know who your friends really are! Yes but it took three coats!
Incredible work ... I enjoy looking at all the details here, but I really love seeing transformations like this one.
