Client brought this car in on a referral from another client. He purchased the car about 18 months ago and hasn't done anything with it detailing wise since getting it. Didn't look too bad when I quoted it. You all know where this is going. It was to come in for a protection detail with single stage polish. Two days. Anyhow, four days and approximately 32 hours later it rolled out the door. A huge thank you to Clark at Polished Bliss and Bob at Auto Concierge for their information or I probably would have been swinging from the rafters in my warehouse. Absolutly amazing what you did with only about half the microns that you needed. The head and tail lights surely made a huge difference in the finished product and the wheels holy shit. Great job, Ken...:worship2:
Great job Ken! Love the 50/50 shots of the hood. Can't wait to get me some of that Power Finish and 85RD!
Ken...WoW!!! So many things come to mind. Like Buddy said, the first "oh shit" moment would have come with the PTG readings...that guy is so lucky he took it to you...imagine for a moment that he took it to someone who doesn't use the gauge..can you say cc failure? Anyone else would have probably burned through it. 2nd..the wheels..no question taking them off is the referable way to go...I just won't remove ANYTHING off a customer's car..I just don't want to risk anything breaking...a seized wheel nut..who knows. Here's hoping you added the time into your quote for the r & r of the wheels!! The end result of removing them is fantastic. It sounds like you had 3X's the time into this as you had thought...did you quote him a set price before? If so, were you able to bump it up? I'm hoping so...nobody works for free. With a nice car like that, you just increased its value by about 5G's...hopefully the guy got off his wallet for you! The black colour looks so deep, so dark, so good it's just amazing. I know this was a marathon effort for you, but man, you gotta be so very proud of yourself. We sure are!!:applause2::applause2::applause2::applause2:
Yikes that clear coat reading scared me. Is that why you used a PC instead of a rotary? Looks amazing though.
I would almost have to say the owner didn't think it was his car when he arrived to get it, it looks completely different, and has to look better than when he bought it, excellent work!!
Most of the PTG readings around the car were just under 100. I used my pc because the paint was sooooo sticky that even at 1000 rpms with the rotary, the paint was warming up enough that the polish was binding to the paint. I didn't bill him for any extra time. Pulling the wheels off took an extra 2 hours or so, but the extra time on the paint because it was sticky was no ones fault. Shit happens. It was a fun job to do and he took some cards for his buddies. I'll make it back. He never asked for a quote when I started so look on his face when I gave him a bill for $750 was priceless!! We're even.
dude , that is amazing work. I wish my customers would realize how much our work is worth. I feel like charging $500 bucks for that kind of job makes ppl think I'm crazy, but after using products like Swissvax and Menz, I'm making like $10 an hour!!!!!!! It's kinda ridiculous, makes me wanna cut major corners but hey it's all about the 11 customers behind the first happy one
Great work Ken, i was anxiously awaiting the final thread on this vehicle..you surely did not disappoint!
Great work! I love the 50/50 of the hood. How did you find using the 3403 and the 3 inch bp on the spoiler? Did it have enough coverage or did you have yourself having to hand polish most of it? Cheers, Nick
Great work there, loving the before and afters shots :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: How you finding the Race Glaze soap? I’m a good friend of Mark (Race Glaze boss) I was only at his shop the other day. Roy.
Ken, this is just beautiful!!! So many pics! I absolutely adore it! By the way, are you gonna carry these at your store???
