Almost finished the body today. Doors were dropped off with hood and trunklid coming Thursday. There was soooo much orange peel on this panel. The result Passenger side before final polishing Roof complete - no LSP yet. The walls in my shop are 24' tall.
Wow, great work so far! Can't wait to see a finished product! BTW I am super jealous of your huge shop!:mounty:
Looks awesome Ken. Wet sanding definitely makes the difference. Looks perfect from the pictures. Any plans for the wheels? I really need to learn how to polish wheels and whatnot, I feel like the few times that I've tried I've messed it up.
No fair, he sanded! Seriously awesome work Ken, this is a project and a half, cant wait to see the end result!
I always refer wheels to a specialist. If it was just the lips, I'd consider it but these are just too big and a shop that does it all the time will do a way better job for way less money. Probably use the Trizac tomorrow on the doors as they are up on stands so easier to work on.
Looks amazing Ken!!!! Cant wait to see some finished shots. Those wheels look rather wide. What is the tire size on the back?? 305, 315 size tire??
sweet work so far Ken. Wow, just amazing. Look forward to the end results of this bad boy. Those are some sick rims as well to say the least.
Was the clear applied extra thick in preperation of you wet sanding? How much did you take off from when you got it in the shop? The finish on that is about the best I have seen in a while!
I believe four coats of clear were applied with it being sanded out between coats. The last two coats were applied heavy. Readings on the car were all over the place so had to be careful. One 1/4 window panel had readings between 230 and 320 with one area reading 170. Yikes! We took one area down 125 microns chasing a large piece of dirt. That area still has 280 microns left. Not adviseable to take off that much but the owner said to make it perfect. Amount removed depends on wether it was sanded with 2000 or 1500 and 2000. 1500 removes a lot more clear in a hurry. Pus I'm polishing with wool and UK Menz Powergloss which cuts like crazy. Then you'll cry when this is done. Motor is 800hp and about 760lb/ft of torque. Wheels are a custom made, one off set. Interior is all ( including the dash ) baseball stitched leather. Rear wheels will sit far up enough into the wells that you won't see the top of the tires. Suspension is fully adjustable. He figures it'll get about 2mpg on the hwy if he's lucky!
