Gentlemen, if you're not approaching your local funeral homes, you're potentially missing some good business! This was the 2nd car I did for a local funeral home. It is a 2000 Cadillac 6 door limo that they bought used. It was pretty scratched up as you can see. I used the KB method (as I understand it) with my new Dynabrade rotary (1st time using it). I used a PFW pad and started the rotary from between 1000 to 1400 rpm, depending on how bad the surface was and of course with 105. For shits and giggles, I also tried that method using X3 (it also works with that!). I was amazed at how well it finished using the wool pad. The surfaces either got 105 or X3 depending on how bad it was. That stage was followed with the rotary and 85rd with a black LCC pad. I then cleansed the paint with DG 501 using a blue pad and the rotary. The finish was then sealed with DG sealant. My camera was dying quickly, so the shots are not the best. I was only contracted to do the paint on the car, nothing else. I did the wheels while I was waiting for the sealant to cure (done with DG 501). BEFORES: AFTERS: The brutal touch up job was beyond fixing, but was improved considerably..
Looking good there richy :thumb: Boy that is aaaaaallllllloooooottttt of surface to polish though...how long did this take you?
Nice work!! I dunno if I could work on a funeral home car. Even just one like that, yeah I sound like a scared kid, lol.
Great job richy. Man that has some great reflection to it now. Oh and I agree with Nica about how much real estate that is.
Carlos..thanks a lot! It was a lot of real estate, no question. I also clayed the car with cm red (forgot to add that) and had to give it a wipe down with onr b/c it was slightly dusty/dirty. All in all it took 10 hours. Thanks! You gotta put that outta your head..it's just a car. The FH people were like "Do you mind if we wheel this guy past you?" (He was in a body bag)...My response was "Just don't let him eat my lunch!" Cop Humour.. thanks sal Yes it was..but also guarantees a decent amount of billing time!!
Man, I'll tell ya, I just loved it. I remember picking it up the first time thinking "shit, this is heavier than my old one" but within 2 or 3 minutes I felt like I was working with an old friend. Just a little adjustment for me to relearn the variable dial going sideways rather than along the handle like my old one. I highly recommend it and am DAMN GLAD I listened to you guys on this one!! Thanks again for that! Thanks Merlin!
I have to admit I smiled at first then I couldn't help but shake my head :shakehead:...but still funny :giggle: :giggle:
