Wondering what the interest would be on these pads and at what price?

Pads will be about $60 USD. Do you think you guys would go for them if they cost that much...

I just realized the cost and freight and taxes would put me at some crazy number.

Let me know how many would be interested.

Also only yellow would be available.

    Pictures borrowed from Fminus, Thanks!

Phil I will like to try one but will have to justify to myself to spend 60 on a backing plate. Are they really worth it?

Can someone explain the advantages of these BP's to me. I know it will allow you to use smaller pads. Also, what is the difference between grey foam and the the yellow one???

FMINUS...can you add some insight since you have them...

Get the yellow one, control the firmness by the pressure u use on the machine instead getting 2 pads.

Its REALLY nice because these pads have almost NO Vibration at all. They also stick to the pad better than ANYTHING out there.

The same way the Metabo is a luxury over the Hitachi, the 3m is a luxury over the normal plates.

Not needed, but makes it that much more fun/nicer to detail

Oh good you managed to get a hold of them :thumb:

Is that what they are called though? 3M Bumper Pads?

I have a few of the yellow backing plate and I agree with what FMINUS said but to add to it I'd have to say that the way it evens out the pad and I think that it helps break down polish it's a completely different pad. To be honest I can't compare it to any other backing plate I've used, these 3M pads are something different the yellow foam really comes in handy when it comes to polishin garound the edges and also helps maintaining the pads leveled...but that's just my opinion :2cents:

Good to see that Phil was able to get some though, well done Phil :thumb:

Oh Phil I just noticed there was two threads started with the same tittle? Was this done on purpose or did you want the other one deleted? Let me know

These will fit any machine that has a 5/8 end to it.

FMINUS did you get charged or hit with Duty on them?

These will fit the Metabo and pretty much any "regular" rotary WITHOUT mods.

There is another version out there so beware of the sizing before purchasing.

I was not hit with duty, VAT was not charged and there was no US Duty either!

I know the BP is used by many detailers in europe and may not be readily available in the U.S. but i'm wondering is it really worth 3X the amount of the Bbs that are available in the U.S...

Supply and demand comes to mind

Think of it as a luxury item, like the Metabo. Its not worth its price exponentially, but it sure its nice to have!

an M5 is NOT worth 2 528i's but thats what they charge and people wait in line!:headbang:
