so im detailing a Mercedez CLS this weekend and i noticed that my 3M yellow backing plate is de-laminationg. meaning the foam is coming apart from the plastic... it's not all the way around, but only a small part. can i just use glue to put it back on? like super glue or gorilla glue?
I haven't experienced any de-lamination with my 3M BP but will definitely keep my eye out if it should do so.
I haven't owned a 3M UK backing plate, so I can't help directly with this one. However, is it possible that this new one from Meguiar's could be a less expensive substitute? I used it this past weekend and really liked it.
The W66 is a nice backing plate also, it is just a little bigger than the 3M. I have both set up on 2 of my buffers.
I'm really glad you guys are talking about this BP. I have been wanting to pull the trigger for a while now but the 60 bucks has stopped me every time. I have seen all you big guns out there using it. So I figure it has to be good, right.
wow first time I hear of such a thing with these backing plates, I've had mine for about two years now and it's still going strong. Well I guess there is always a first for everything huh :shead: Hey scheerspeed did you get the backing plate from me? Can you post any pictures of it, I'm curious now.
no, i bought it from cartersconsumables.co.uk i can't post pics until next week, im in New York right now for the weekend.
