Hey guys, i plan on giving my WRX a new layer of coating.
Im debating on the 22PLE or the CQ UK Ed.

Does anyone have hand on experience with these 2 coatings?
Which one seem to be harder and better at scratch resistant?

I haven't used the 22 but the CQUK in on my vehicle now. Beads like a champ after all the salt and brine this winter thus far and I definitely notice a lot less marring.

I wouldn't necessarily say harder = more scratch resistance and you need to see past marketing b.s. of some of these products and try them out for yourself. To be honest, I feel the whole scratch resistance attribute is over hyped in all of the coating products I've tried. My testing has shown no real difference in scratch resistance between them when I compared OC Pro, 22ple, and CQF. My testing was done with green Scotch-Brite dish scrubbing pad, weight on top, and soapy water. I do however feel their ability to shed away dirt more effectively when rinsed, especially with a pressure washer, lends to a noticeable reduction in marring. So they still help and have many other amazing qualities...just be honest with your clients about their abilities upfront.

While they do help with marring, one improper wash can still trash a coated car in minutes, which I observed first hand the other day when the dealer washed my wife's car!

FYI: The dealer uses those green bristled brushes (brooms) to wash cars. Her car broke down and was towed in, it was very dirty and covered in salt/sand from our sloppy wintery roads. You can just imagine moving all that dirt around with a dirty brush and it's evident by the pic just how nasty they can be! It's noted in their system never to wash her car and it was written on the paper work too. Since this was an unscheduled visit she did not have her "Do Not Wash" sign. Traded it in for a new car the next day....

Wow i would be pissed if that were to ever happened to me!!
All that long hours of polishing and just get trashed like that.

Now that you mention that the "Scratch Resistant" most manufacture claims with their coatings, is only to a certain degree.... it makes me question my switch from Wax to all coatings....
I originally switched from Wax to Coatings because of their superior protection, to help prevent scratches and swirls....

I think they definitely help against marring (think towel marring with soft paint), but I feel it's been exaggerated and I think a lot of it comes from their ability to she's away dirt...less dirt on the surface after a rinse means less chance of marring. ;)

ouch.... a few of my clients had a couple fender benders lately and after seeing the cars after the body shop did their "thing" on the car.... I wanted to scream. No matter what you tell them, no matter how much you emphasis it, they still somehow manage do completely wreck the paint. On the subject of the OP.... I am seeing this myself... disappointed in the whole "scratch resistant" aspect, fascinated by the water sheeting/beading capabilities.

You must be a very calm and cool person to have a dealership marr your paint like that and not be on the 5 o'clock news. I have it written in my file to never, ever wash my car, I made sure they added that to my paperwork and profile.

It was dark when we picked it up and I was pissed when I saw it but we planned on trading it in anyway so I didn't let it get to me too much. My wife called and complained but the manager was out on Saturday and as far as I know they haven't gotten back to her yet...I'm not holding my breath either. :waiting2:

I just did a brz that only had 1600 km on the dial. Opticoat pro since new. Fender bender sent it to a body shop and the whole car came back disaster. The owner was shocked when the lights go on.
