Sometimes you just can't win. The amount of effort both I and the owner put in, to make sure that the dealership doesn't do any damage to the paint, was still not enough this time. A few months ago I prepped and Opti Coated the husbands few months old X5 in Bend Oregon, that was damaged by the dealership. Within a week, they ordered this X3 for the wife. She insisted on black but she was ok with Sapphire Black. rops: The car finally came in last week, but this time they are in Eugene Oregon for work. The owner found a shop that he felt good about putting on a clear bra kit. I instructed him to give the installer his fluffy towels I had him order to maintain the finish on the X5. He forgot. Naturally the paint got trashed underneath the clear bra and any other area the installer wiped off. The rest of the paint was swirl free. So once again, instead of having a pretty straightforward and easy detail, I had to push hard to finish on time. The shop owner was kind enough to let me do the work there. Absolutely Stunning Work, Thomas !!! I am glad that you continue to just KILL these cars !!!! That last pic truly shows how world class prep makes everything else just fall into place perfectly !!! Glossy - over the moon, - Glossy !!! We have just witnessed a Perfect Detail !!! Dan F
Nice job on the bimmer. You pictures look amazing. Are you enhancing them. That gloss really looks incredible. No to take anything away from the the detal thst Looks great as well. I am playing around with an slr and I love the shots you post.
Thank you all very much guys. JSF721 I shoot raw, and adjust in lightroom to what I saw when I was done. Just to be clear, if you take a jpeg shot, it is the camera that is doing the enhancement. So we alway do something to the pictures. If you leave all settings at "neutral" in your camera, you are doing a disservice to your work, as I am sure your pictures would look worse than what the car looked in person. I have seen it many times.Guys with big DSLR, that are capable of amazing shots, but their pictures look flat. Even at "0" settings the camera is still making adjustments. If you take a raw unprocessed picture and turn it into JPeg is the only time when there is no enhancement to a particular picture. But no one shoots raw for that. I'll be happy to post a screen shot if you want to see raw vs Jpeg. What camera do you have?
Having worked alongside Thomas, I can vouch for his processes and the results he achieves. He does it the right way and his cars come out stunning. I appreciate that he is forthcoming about what he does to the pictures he takes and why. Heck If I knew a bit more about image processing I would be tinkering with it too.
Thanks Shane, that is very kind of you. The one thing I forgot to mention, is those "kit lenses" that come with most cameras. They are ok but if you want to get sharper pictures, invest in better glass. That is one reason that will make or brake a shot.
