I was contacted by a client of mine who recently traded his GTI for an STI earlier this year. I had already washed, clayed and applied Sonax Polymer Net Shield to it but he wanted me to go ahead and do a full new car prep on it for him so that after it was corrected I could coat with with Opticoat V2. He also wanted some clear film removed on the rear doors and some de-badging and re-badging done. I did this correction about three weeks ago anyways on to the photos. Why would you need a hair dryer for? Did you take a shower as well when you wash the car? haha. Maybe heating up the foam tape to remove the emblem?
The hair dryer was used to heat up the clear film I removed on both rear doors and to heat up the emblems a bit prior to removing them so the adhesive doesn't have as strong of a bond to the clear. I don't have a heat gun so I used what I had available and it worked fine.
Always great work from you Danny! Loved how my vehicle came out. Too bad it's unenjoyable at the moment as we've been plagued by these continuous dust storms here in El Paso.
Thanks Holden I'm glad you liked the way your STI came out. I hope at least its been a bit easier to maintain now that it has Opticoat on it, it is really annoying that we have so much dust and pollen right now. My mach 1 will be washed and in two days it's filthy again. I am planning to do another correction with Opticoat as the LSP again either this weekend or next.
