Client contacted me for Opti-Coat protection on his new VW Golf R. He was also unhappy with the paint condition from the dealership. He lived about an hour away but was willing to make the trip.

Car was picked up at the end of january and brought to me 2 weeks later. It was not washed at all since purchase. Despite that, it was still a mess as you'll see.

He arrived well over an hour late as he had a mini family emergency in the morning to deal with. Not a problem with me, just I wasn't documenting the wash, clay, paint measurement process with photos today.

FWIW - this paint had pretty healthy readings all around with many over 150 microns

After it was cleaned up I was pretty certain this was going to be a 2 step process despite the 1 step we had booked.

Did some test spots and eventually went with

    Flex 3401 + Optimum MF pads + D300
Flex 3401 + LC Tangerine + Menz Power Finish (PF2500)

I found this paint a bit on the soft side but not terrible

Client was happy with the results, and unhappy with the dealership. I believe he is taking some of my correction photos to the dealer to discuss.

Excellent work! You dont see many Rs in Tornado Red either.

I'll be giving my GTI a similar treatment come spring. :D

    Thanks guys!

suggested tint to the owner but he wasn't feeling it (I don't offer tint but I agree it kinda needs it)

Awesome job. Car looks great in red. Wish our dealerships delivered cars that nice. Here are a couple pics from a BRAND NEW Beetle I'm doing right now.

Have your client take a few pics back to the dealer and get reimbursed for the polishing. I back charged dealers $6k last year and am shooting for $15-20k this year.
