The most important thing about an RS is the weight reduction Porsche goes at length to create. The GT2 is 154 pounds, 34 less than the leaked information last week. The modifications seem to be on par with the GT3’s weight saving method. While on the naturally aspirated RS the carbon fiber bits get painted the same body color, the GT2 RS goes with a matte black finish, muscle-car style. The performance is all there, with the 620 hp being pumped out of the engine. The straight-line performance is a bit weaker than last week’s claims, 0-62 is in 3.5 seconds, to reach 200 miles an hour will take 28.5 seconds. The Nürburgring lap time is better though, at 7.18 seconds, probably achieved thanks to the suspension tweaks that included RS Springs, PASM Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management, anti-roll bars, dynamic engine mounts and PSM Porsche Stability Management. For this performance, the gas mileage is quite amazing. Porsche is claiming a 23.7 mpg for the boosted 911. Last week’s price was correct at € 237,578, and only 500 of the GT2 RSs will be built, but will probably increase if demand is high enough.
