Mercedes C-300 that belongs to Kevin Patten who was the shop foreman @ Performance Art which just closed(sigh) so with nothing to do he replaced his daughters hurting Ford Focus with this car. Being of "Strippo trim level and kevin a accomplished tech with the eye for all things tightness as it related to automotive field he purchased the car and between him and I we set about to make the car look and drive nicer. Some of the subtle mods done to the car are as follows... .18' AMG wheels w/Pirelli tires (upgrade from 17') .Painted the cast stock calipers from dull silver to black .AMG door lock covers .Sport decklid spoiler .Painted the grill tines from silver to gloss black The car had some "issues" right out of the gate, with overspray on the rear bumper along with severe hard water etch and marring on the finish. Kevin painting the calipers. Door lock covers(not a big deal but a improvement over stock) Beginning of the correction, 50/50's of "B" pillar with water etching. Hard water spots on the finish. Making "Slow" progress..... Another 50/50 on the passenger side glass of hard water spots and the correction thereof. Close up of the re-spray/overspray with sand scratches and holograms which were corrected. During compounding. During medium polishing stage. This panel on a "Brand new car"..... Improvements evident. Low readings.....so care had to be taken. Entire door now corrected. Paint on this car was very nice, rock hard but nice as you can see crisp reflections after polishing. The clarity from the finish is very nice, as this pic of the hood with a recent Autoweek mag shows. you can see the shine in the photo on the cover.
Finish looking good... LED pics(just in case). LSP applied(Two coats of Powerlock). Almost missed the sun pics as the sun was just going down(winter is coming.....:sorry. Like this pic best.......DIRECT SUN PIC.
That's a very tidy C, nice work! I used PowerLock for the first time yesterday, very impressive product...
Great job. Good looking C. Also see the sidemarkers have been upgraded to smoked. Yeah, I hate those cheapo stock door pins also, especially since the fronts and rears have two different designs. There are better pins available though that sit more flush than stick out that much. What products did you use? I'm using Menzerna Power Finish and 85RD for my C, but always interested in hearing what others use on their and to what degree of success.
