2008 Volvo XC90

This car was a referral and I did not even get to meet the owner. The vehicle had an error of either a previous detailer or a bodyshop. Whoever had burned through the paint on the back left corner...what a shame! The wheel molding had paint transfer too. I used my 35 mm lens for this car too..weird not being able to zoom. The paint corrected very easily for this car too..just like the Lexus I did. For the few scratches and whatnot, I just used M105 with a mf and it corrected quickly and easily for the most part.

The Process:

Wheels/Tires/Wells:

The wheels had both tar and brake dust. For the first one I did Carbrite wheel acid first and then tarminator. This did not work as well as using Tarminator first and then the wheel acid..at least that's what I found.
Tires cleaned with Zep purple degreaser.
Wells cleaned with Zep Citrus.
Wheels subsequently clayed with CM blue.
Wheels subsequently polished with DG 501.
Tires dressed with DP gel.



Wash:
Pre-wash with DG bug remover
Foamed with DG 901 and followed up with 2bm



Head/Tail Lights:

Lenses compounded with Menz Micro polish.
Lenses then polished with DG Track Claw plastic polish.
Lenses sealed with DG 105.

Paint:

Paint and glass surfaces clayed with CM blue.
Misc scratches and defects were corrected by hand with M105 and a mf
Paint polished with Menz Micro polish with a rotary and black 5" LCC pad.
Paint cleaned by hand with DG 501 (too bloody hard to get it out of the buffing pads, LOL)
Paint sealed with DG 601/105 combo.
Paint spritzed with DG Marine detailer spray.

Exterior Trim:

Paint transfer eliminated with 0000 steel wool and Isopropyl alcohol.
Trim spot treated with trim dye.
Trim dressed with DG flat black dressing.

Grille:

Chrome emblem and painted slats polished with DG 501 and sealed with 105.

Glass:

Cleaned with Zep glass cleaner
Windshield and back glass treated with DG Rain Repel.

Interior:

Mats were vacuumed, dry brushed, vacuumed, treated with DG carpet cleaner, power washed, vacuumed and subsequently steamed.
Carpeting was vacuumed and steamed.
Plastic was cleaned with 303 and treated with 303 Aerospace.
Leather was treated with Megs Leather conditioner.
Door jams cleaned with ONR.
Wood polished with Micro polish and treated with 303 Aerospace.

Thanks Brian. If you include the time I spend on the mats (which I do when I am washing the car b/c I usually power wash them) I would say about 2 to 3 hours tops. If the mats arent bad and it's just a matter of vacuum, steam and plastic..I think the fastest ever for me was about 1.5 hours. I have the Gaia steamer which is a steamer, vacuum and extractor in one and I love it. I have just been experimenting with different products to effectively remove all stains.

I dont understand that your pre-wash using DG tar remover, do you mean spray the DG tar remover to the paint surface under dry condition before washing? Do you mind describe this part? I seldom using my DG tar remover so far ...

I really love how you clean the interior part ... before and after tell how good you are :worship2: look like 303 products really good for interior cleaning ...

Marcus...thanks a lot man! Being here on DB is where I was introduced to it by AL-53 and a few others who swore by it. I tried the products and loved them too so I just do my part to share the info. I won't ever buy an over-priced APC again...or glass cleaner for that matter.
