This was a car that we did for the dealer. I have never seen a car this badly polished ever. It was a real challenge, as the paint was so badly swirled that I had to cut it for 4 hours. there were alot of RIDS and a few burn marks in the paint that would not come out. Because this was a dealer demo and was sold, they wanted it mint. It has around 1600miles on it. Oh.. I have to add my detailing partners name here too because he said so... So here ya go Quin ! Polishes Used - Menz PowerGloss - Menz PO85RD - Menz Final Finsh ( PO85PU ) Now.. I have never worked on a Porsche that was sucha pain to polish. The pad would start to skip and howl after a few passes, and I could not even use SIP. This car was a real beast. Pads Used - CCS Yellow - CCS Orange - CCS Black - CCS Blue LSP - Victoria Wax Deep Cleanse - Victoria Wax Red ( 3 Layers ) Cleaners - OPT Car Soap - P21S Wheel Gel - Zymol Sponge - Zymol Chamois Total Working time : 8 hours
Its a small polisher I got from Atlas Tools and its made in Norway. Ive had it for 6 years and its used for small areas that are hard to reach Otherwise I use a 9227C .. The ol' faithful!! LOL
Nice job Is that typical of all the local dealer's vehicles or did the porters use this one as a "practice" car since it was the lot demo?
No.. They acually dont do any polishing at the dealer. Its all sent out, or they bring in someone from a local detail shop. I work at a bodyshop that is a Porsche Authorized Repair facility. So we polish everything that comes out of here, more or less. I have been doing work for the dealer for years. But now that I do Detailing Clinics for all the car clubs in the area, we have been doing ALOT more customer polishing, and I nkow that the dealer is fed up with who they use now. So we are doing more of the Dealer cars. But this car ..... this was really bad.. like it was done in wool and thrown outside!! LOL
Well done there FuelTuner, vheicle looks gorgeous..it's blue :druling: :druling: I love blue :cheerl: Question was Menzerna guming up your pads and shooting of the foam pads in little chucks of polish? I've had that happen to me on DB Boss' Porche as well, but it seemed to correct it's self as I went a long. But you had to use the yellow LC pad wow :what: that's quite bad. Just curious, why didn't you use the Swissvax Mystery? Not that I have anything against Victoria, I think Victoria is a great wax but just wondering that's all. Thank you for sharing, vehicle looks great, nice save :worship2:
I had a bit of gumming, but it is almost as if the polish was drying and the paint was catching the pad... very strange. As far as the Mystery goes, the dealer would never pay for the extra premium for the wax. I have ben getting the best results so far with my Dodo Juice , Rubbish Boys, and Victoria. I acually do not really like the Mystery all that much, and so I don't use it very often. I find that it goes clouldy after, and I very very rarely have the oppertunity to go over the car again later with a QD,being in a body shop inviroment, so I have looked for a wax that is easier to use and provides a great look. Victoria , RB , and Dodo provide an incredible gloss, are quick and stay realitively clean after 2 coats. Very very little gas off after a few hours. BTW... I am trying out the Victoria QD, and it is pretty good, but I still prefer Zymol FG
Yea I figured it would be the time issue for you at the shop, as for the results with Mystery I can't say I've had the cloudy appearance but then again I'm hardly ever pressed for time so I always follow up with the final wipe down, but I can appreciate the environment your in and time is precious. As far as Victoria goes, I really think Victoria is under valued, it's a great wax and all products deliver :thumb: As for Dodo I can't say I've tried them, so I got no comment on them
