Well a good friend of mine just purchased this truck and wanted it looking as best as possible, the best thing was that this was a tag team detail :thumb: The vehicle: 2007 – Harley Davidson F-150 Well my friend dropped off the vehicle and needed a ride back home so I drove him back home mean time Mike and Justin got started with the vehicle washed it using the two bucket method and clayed it with the Riccardo clay bar. By the time I arrived it was time to tape up the vehicle and get going with the polishing :cheerl: funny how that worked out huh :giggle: First up to see what we were up against, with the help of the 3M Sun Gun we were able to see the true state of the vehicle: Any who vehicle was taped up: Well not much to tape now it was time to see how much paint we had to play with, for this the PosiTest DFT combo was used: The truck had plenty of paint for us to play with :thumb: Well now to see what combo would work best on this truck, first up was the Menzerna 85RD3.02 with a Black 3M UK Polishing pad, Metabo at 1500 RPM with 3M Backing Plate. The swirls laughed at this combo and Menzerna 3.02 was just not going to cut it this time around. The next combo used was 3M UK Perfect-it III Extra Fine Compound (80349) with a Black 3M UK Polishing pad, Metabo at 1500 RPM with 3M Backing Plate, this was then followed up with Menzerna 85RD with a Blue 3M UK Finishing pad, Metabo at 1500 RPM with 3M Backing Plate. Now this combo gave the following results (driver side fender): Here is the finder completely corrected (please excuse the polish residue :sorry☺ Now these results were very satisfying. So this was the combo we polished the vehicle with. Here is Justin hard at work: Well the polishing progress continued here are some 50/50 pictures to illustrate the difference we made to this vehicle: Hood: Polished hood: Non polished hood: Now this was something else, this is a 50/50 of the plastic grill on the front of the vehicle: Here is the same plastic grill completely polished out: By the way to completely polish this section out the small UK rotary backing plate was used teamed up with the Ultimate 4inch Polishing (red) and Glazing Spot Pad (Red) Spot Pads and the same polish combo :thumb: Oh yes Mike was given a special task to do on this truck :giggle: You see my friend (owner of the truck) purchased a special liner for the flat bed and Mike was “volunteered” to install it :giggle: Now I’ve detailed with Mike many times before and I have never seen him sweat so much :lol2: here he is after he was done: By the way that liner looked sweet :cheerl: Well since we saw him sitting down on the job we gave him the pleasure of Polishing the roof of the truck  Well once all the polishing was done it was time to give the vehicle a final wipe down, but due to size of this vehicle we thought it would be better to go with the P21S Total Auto Wash instead and we did: Here we have P21S Total Auto Wash doing what it does best :thumb: Look Mike is going so fast he’s a blur hahahaha right Well the vehicle was then rinsed off and dried with various waffle weaved micro fiber towels. This concludes day one as the paint correction process took a whapping combined total of 21hrs :yikes: yes it took 7 hours for each person, large surface areas. Day two: Now for the fun day, first off Zymol HD Cleanse Professional is applied: Now considering this is a good friends vehicle, choosing a LSP was touch, so what to use  Well I enjoy the Vintage application and we settled with Vintage: Vintage was applied left to bond for several minutes and wile Vintage was bonding we gave the interior a quick vacuum and a quick wipe down. Once Vintage was buffed off with various micro fiber towels, the truck was moved out side and left to sweat. The last step was to give the entire truck the Field Glaze wipe down: The truck was given several Field Glaze wipe downs as I did a good job at applying a nice thick coat of Vintage to the truck :giggle: Well here is how the vehicle finished off: Here is a walk around video: YouTube - 2007 Harley Davidson F-150 walk around video Heres a video Mike created (Mike I'm borrowing your video :thumb YouTube - 2007 F150 Harley Edition Well my friend was thrilled with the end results, when I told him that the wax we used on the truck is worth $2,000.00 he was quite shocked :giggle: All in all he was impressed with the end result and that’s all that matters :thumb:
Very nice. I just love the look of Vintage on black paint. I haven't used HD-Cleanse Professional. Is it any easier to use than the regular ole HD-Cleanse? RMG and P21S Gloss Enhancing Paintwork Cleanser have taken over for me since my HD-Cleanse supply finally ran out. Curious about the Pro version, though.
Yes, I agree SuperBee364 Vintage on dark colour vehicles looks incredible. As far as HD-Cleanse Professional, easy :shakehead: NO WAY!!! Using the Pro version is much, much more difficult then the regular version. The nice thing is that with a tag team action it's easy to apply, one person applies the other two wipe/buff off :thumb: I personally enjoy using HD-Cleanse Professional :thumb:
Beautiful truck and a beautiful detail. Thats one hoss of a truck. +1 about the 50/50 shots. Looks amazing.
The truck finished off very nice, like all trucks it had some large panels but at the end it looked so good my friend (the owner) was shocked to see it the way it finished off. It was fun detailing with Justin and Mike, caught up on a few things and best of all we were giving each other a hard time :thumb: what are friends for.
You're not kidding. Next time I will go pick up the friend and you can help with the wipe down! Jeepers, thick coat doesn't begin to explain that one :catfight:
Great job guys and man does Vintage look incredible or what. Man Carlos you have so many great waxes at your disposal I don't know how you decide which to use!
Carlos et al...great job there!! Love the finish and the shots are great. I've yet to tag team with 2 others..uh oh..can't wait for P1et's reaction to that one!!:yikes:
Thank you guys for the kind remarks, very much appreciated. This truck sure finished off nice and Vintage on black colour vehicles is great :thumb: Detailing in a group is fun, once you get a system going things get done fast :thumb:
