This vehicle was booked for a minor paint correction, single stage. The owner of the vehicle wanted to stick around on the first day, to pick up a few pointers and well just to see how it’s done. Regrettably no pictures of the washing process or the claying process but it was the traditional two bucked method and the clay bar was Riccardo Yellow clay bar, owner of the vehicle helped me clay the vehicle and was surprised the difference a clay bar made to a vehicles surface :thumb: Well here is the vehicle all washed and clayed and ready to be polished: The vehicle was full of RIDS I took a few paint gauge readings, first with the PositTector 6000: I was able to find a section where the vehicle had visited a body shop, owner knew this though, paint gauge hasn't let me down yet :thumb: Enter PosiTector 200: Readings were normal, a bit low in some spots but seeing as I’m only doing a minor paint correction there was nothing to worry about. Well due to the color of the vehicle it made it a bit difficult to capture all the swirls/scratches. Well moving on, since this was just a minor paint correction I decided to go with the following combo: Menzerna Intensive Polish with 3M UK Polishing foam pad. Vehicle was taped up and a spot was selected to see how well this combo would hold up: Here are the results, again the color and flakes on this vehicle made it tough to capture the difference: Left side polished, right side not polished. Here lower section has been polished upper section not polished, again hard to see. A closer look: Well as expected this combo delivered, not a 100% but at least 80% better. Here is the rest of the fender all polished out: Another 50/50, this time of the hood: Before: After: 50/50 of the trunk: Hard to see the difference, right polished left hand not polished. The pillars where a different story, before: After: Well once I was done with the minor paint correction it was time to protect the surface, for this I decided to go with my favorite sealant combo: First a coat of DG#601, followed up with DG#105: Oh the rims also received a healthy coat of this sealant combo, with the help of my little girl: Wile the sealant was bonding I finished a few things like the exhaust tips both tips looked like this: Before: After: Tires were dressed with Optimum Tire, all plastic trim was dressed with Black WOW and here are the end results, no outdoor pictures as weather was getting a bit cold: Well that concludes this detail, minor paint correction but still enjoyed it :thumb:
Nice job Carlos, did not think that SIP would make a good one stepper but it seams like it does pretty well.
Stunning work, Carlos! I love those details you post! You inspire me to take more and more pictures during my detail, because I enjoy sharing them!!!
Thank you for the kind feed back guys, very much appreciated eace: I still have time to detail :thumb: Um..bottle says Intensive Polish it's what I used to call 85RD 3.02, the bottle originally came from the UK though so maybe it's now called SIP here in North America
Great work Carlos, I know someone with the same car and color. I'll show him how it should look...............:thumb:
