Hello all! Hope my first post proves me to be a worthy member. Being referred by P1et and having him as my “mentor” so to speak, I have BIG shoes & expectations to fill! So here goes… After having this car for almost a year (purchased it CPO) I could no longer live with the scratches & swirls that had accumulated in the paint. I had applied Z1 and several layers of Z5 & Z2 back in September, but that was just a temporary fix. This paint needed correction. I tried to correct the paint using a PC on speed 6 with PoorBoys SSR 2.5 but after about an hour of work I realized it just wasn't cutting it -literally. Time to bring out the big guns!! Menzerna Super Intensive Polish and followed up with Menzerna Micro Polish I have to once again thank a fellow forum member, “P1et” for all of his help & the use of HIS machine & HIS products. Hopefully this post will make him proud… Here's what I did: 1) Wash vehicle with high concentration of CG Citrus Wash & ShMitt 2) Dry with CG waffle weave towel 3) Clay entire paint surface with Clay Magic clay & lube 4) Wash vehicle with similar concentration of CG Citrus Wash & ShMitt 5) Dry vehicle completely 6) Attempt to polish with the PoorBoys SSR2.5 7) Polish w/ PC on speed 6 Using Orange Lake Country pad & SIP 8) Polish w/ PC on speed 6 using white Lake Country pad & Menzerna PO85RD 9) Remove any dusting w/clean MF towel 10) Apply Z-AIO (dried for about 45 minutes) 11) Apply CG New Look Trim Gel to tires 12) Apply Z-5 Pro (dried for about 1 hour) 13) Apply Z-2 Pro (dried for about 12 hours) Here are some before pictures that show the high number of swirls and scratches in the paint. Before: Here are the after shots. Not the best lighting conditions. After: Of course the day after I do all this work it rains!! Oh well, here are some shots of water beading: All comments and questions are welcome! Thanks for looking!
Looking good Cody!!! Excellent work. I wish I had someone to mentor around here, there's just not much call for it.
Talk about starting off with a BANG!!! Lovely vehicle to begin with and the afer pictures look great :thumb: Thank you for sharing, vehicle looks good and nice beading too :applause:
Looks good!!:thumb: The white really hides the imperfections, but you can see the difference in the after shots.
Wow that white is just blingin'! A "properly" cleaned white vehicle can look so incredible. You did a great job Cody. No stopping you now, you're one of us! Hey what did you think of the CGs Trim Gel on the tires?
Well I guess you could call it a "combo" LSP. First, I used a cleaner/polish/protectant "all in one" product called Zaino All In One followed by a layer of Zaino Z-5 Pro followed by a layer of Zaino Z-2 Pro I could do my best describing the benefits of each Zaino product, but I think their website is the best resource for information on their products. Zaino Product Line Up It took me a while to get over the "hype" of the Zaino products, but I'm glad I did because I'm VERY pleased with the results I've had thus far.
Very nice job polishing to bring the finish to a high level. Your A4 looks so much better, you can be very proud.
Welcome to DBF, great job detailing a white car. And too think a certain person from a well known Mfg forum stated that 'white paint is boring"
well i guess P1et does know what he's doing!! great job on your car.. looks like flowing milk. so I take it you live near Pete?? you'll have to come down with him next time we have a Cen-Tex Detail Fest... I'm thinking of doing one in maybe april!!
Oi oi oi oi Code! ME OLD MUCKA! Glad to see you finally joined DB, this is where the REAL players DWELL. The pics don't even do the car any justice. Next time she's all perfect looking, we'll get my camera out and post some real pics. When are you doing the Tundra? Think about the flake POP you'll be seeing on that one using the same methodology you used on the Audi!
