My latest job was another black convertible Corvette (almost identical to the last one). Some parts of the car had been repainted, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Here’s what it looked like when the customer dropped it off. Just a little dust. Wheels weren’t too bad. Some silicone tire dressing sling. Cowl was looking a little faded. Waterspots. Exhaust wasn’t looking so hot. Started the wash off with the wheels. Then the wheelwells. Looking new again. Then to the paint with a little foam gun action. After claying, I inspected the paint. This was easily the worst paint I’ve ever worked on. A little left over spray paint (car had been vandalized). Sanding marks. Paint readings looked alright. Test spot (All the polishing pictures are compounded only). Hood. Passenger fender.
Passenger door. Passenger quarter panel. Trunk Driver’s quarter panel. Mirror. Afters. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for checking it out!
That car was BEAT. Great job on it! Especially investing the bucks into the right tools to ensure a safe job can be completed (Defelsko 200 )
you're right, that thing was hammered. nice save. Also curious what you used for compounding / polishing / pads?
Used FG400 on an Uber Microfiber Cutting Pad and SF4500 on an Uber Blue Pad for finishing. The FG400 and the microfiber cutting pad on the Rupes finishes down so well, you can pretty much turn a 3 step into a 2 step. It's the Positector 200 Advanced, but I also bought the 6000 probe for it which reads metals. I think with the older versions, you had to have a separate body for each?
