Plus I only used 1 piece of clay on the entire vehicle. This time I removed the side guards, kidneys and side grills which allowed to me to properly hit those edges. PIX: Taped Up: Post Detail Pix Engine Bay: Hood: Roof: Bootlid: Overalls: Extra Hood Shots: Shameless Self-Portrait: Not the best day for after pix (spotty sunshine), but overall I'm thrilled with the end result. Thanks for looking.
GoCubsGo -- Absolutely beautiful detail and color ! It sure is nice to not have to do a "marathon" on your own car isnt it ? How difficult was it to remove the side door trim parts ? Did you use a plastic pry tool to remove them ? Beautiful car, pics, and work !!! Thanks for sharing! Dan F
Thank you for the kind words Dan. I don't even want to think about how long the first detail on my DD took, but this time I was able to hammer out the polishing in less than 4 hours. All that time spent fine tuning a proper wash technique has definitely paid off. As for removing the trim pieces, I actually went to You Tube and searched on my make and model for replacing the various trim pieces and was able to determine the proper technique. Some of the videos used a plastic pry tool and some used a microfiber wrapped screwdriver. Common sense and patience ended up working for me in the end (aka..if it sounds like the plastic is about to snap ease back on the pressure). Once the first clip releases the rest just fall into place.
Nice Detail, I love those M3's, how were you able to correct in less then 4 hours using a PC, I heard BM coats are very hard or did you not have to compound
Thanks! I was able to polish the entire vehicle in 4 hours primarily based on the limited correction that was needed (only 1 small section needed M105 applied twice). Proper wash technique goes a long way .
