I did an E320 yesterday. The paint was pretty bad with swirls, some occasional RIDS and deep scuffs. On my test spot I tried, HD Uno, M105, and SIP all on an orange LC pad. HD Uno was too hard to remove so I passed, M105 left a nice finish but dusted quite a bit but not exactly LSP ready under the lights, and SIP somehow left a stellar finish that was LSP ready from inspection.

Was it bad judgement to see that SIP would leave the paint LSP ready? Half the car was repainted- didn't ask the owner but it was the whole passenger side had hasty rippling and "brush" lines? (Not sure what those lines could have been from).

With the condition of the paint, time and budget I decided to go with SIP and got easily 75-95% correction in some areas. Roof and trunk lid were nearly perfect.

The owner was extremely shocked how well the paint looked, he booked an Audi A4 Cab for next week.

Regardless, the clear was extremely hard and took multiple passes. But I am coming from Hondas, Toyotas and Lexus's.

What do you guys think, was my judgement off? Should SIP never come out LSP ready on orange pad?

Congratulations on your success ! Rotary or Random Orbital machine ??

As I read the Menzerna USA product chart, Super Intensive Polish, PO83 has a 3.8 cut vs Power Gloss, POS34A, which has a cut of 4.5.
Gloss level for the two is - 1.5 for Power Gloss, and 3.2 out of 5, for the Super Intensive Polish..

But as we all know, a little experimenting, different pressures, pads, speeds, arm movement of the pads, and the paint, type itself, can all do wonders, until the point of diminishing returns.
I have also seen Menzerna SIP do some pretty remarkable things and even the Power Finish PO203S, do some remarkable correction and finishing down.

I think you exercised correct judgement given the constraints you were working with. You got great, great, results, the customer was stunned, and he is bringing you more business - sounds like a win-win-win to me !!!

My Clients are always stunned, many saying things like "that is not my car ! where is MY car ???, etc..OMG is the most common phrase I hear when I take them to my garage and turn on the lights so they can see their baby.

    Awesome work, Luke093 !!!!
