    d00t Welcome to Detailing

This car was a basic one step correction as the owner auto crosses the car almost every weekend, as you'll see by the insane amounts of caked on brake dust that wasn't fully removed.

I also want to give a big :thumb::thumb: to Karl (krshultz) for referring this client to me, as she has just moved from Raleigh/Durham area. Thanks a bunch, Karl!!

When I first got the car last Wednesday morning:

Exhaust it not too bad of shape:

As always, the rims were first. I cleaned them with P21S wheel gel, and it got the job done very well. Except for the stubborn areas where the brake dust has eated through the wheels clear coat and was caked on to the alloy its self. I tried going over the areas with Megs Wheel Brightener to no avail, so I stuck with P21S for all rims. The tires and arches were cleaned with Eimann Fabrik Tire Cleaner/Hi-Intesity APC

The car was then foamed with CG CWC and then washed with the 2BM with CWC again. Sorry no pics of this stage.

I then clayed the car with Riccardo Yellow clay and ONR as lube.

I then turned my attention to the headlights. I tried using IPA with no luck. I didn't want to use 3M Adhesive remover on the headlights as it's a solvant, and using a solvant on the s2000 lights causes them to crack with an "eggshell" effect.. ask me how I know :thud:

The owner had informed my part of the car had been repainted, so I did two test panels, one on the hood, one on the trunk. To my amazement, the original and repainted panels needed the same combo. And this combo, having done about 5 s2000's now was UNSUALLY aggressive. I had to use M105+LC Orange on the Flex DA for 3-4 passes of each panel. Luckily this was finishing out hologram free.. and for a one step that's all I needed: A decent amount of correction, and zero holograms!

Under brinkman & camera flash. I was able to get about 80ish% correction:

On the 3000 mile journey from North Carolina to California, she encoutered some stain on the paint that had etched in to the clear, but didn't create any edges. The weird thing about it, is NOTHING, alchohal/water, body solvant, nothing could solve this. So the next step was mechanically abrading the clear. It came out 99% with the 3-4 passes of M105 that the rest of the car got.

Exhaust tips were polished with P21S:

Odds and ends: leather was dressed with Gloss-It Leather conditioner. Carpets were vacuumed. Dash was cleaned with 1Z, trim was dressed with poorboys. Tires were dressed with Megs HD 3:1 as well as the arches.

LSP of choice was 2 coats of Black Fire AFPP with the second coat applied 12 hours after the first.

Man, that's a turnaround! Aaron, I'm really happy to hear she called you. As with most S2000 owners, Alex LOVES her car. I don't remember it having looked as bad as it did in your before pictures, but I never really paid close attention to it. You certainly made it pop!

I'm especially glad that the weird stain came out. She sent me pictures of it (on Facebook I think) and I think she was worried about it. I knew she'd be in good hands though!

The brake pads, in case anybody is wondering, are Carbotech AX6. Carbotechs work brilliantly, but famously generate a staggering amount of dust. It wouldn't surprise me if those wheels looked just like they did in the before shots in a week or two. :yikes:

Aaron..nice job finishing down like that only using M105. I hope you coated the wheels in some strong sealant to make the next job slightly easier. It sure looks good.

    Thanks a lot!

    Thanks Karl!

Thanks Richy! I actually didn't seal them, as they are going to be acid-dipped and powder coated here in a week or two. Otherwise I would have!

    Thanks! I love it :)

    Thank you!
