This is my very first detail job. This job came about by a co-worker saying "hey, I'll give you 100 bucks to clean my interior. It's pretty bad" "ok" it's a 2003 envoy and he works construction full time (I only work in the summer as I am a full time student then.) Well, it looked like somebody that worked construction owned the car. I was a bit rushed so the job is far from perfect and I should have spent more time with the upholstery cleaner. but I did get 99% of the stains out and it looks great. I didn't take any picutres of the ground in dirt, coffee stains and food ground into the carpet and ALL over the console but you have all seen that before. Use your imagination it is as a bad as you would guess. after I dropped the car off I got a text message. "you brought a tear to my eye. My truck looks sick. Thanks so much" so he's happy! that's a great feeling Carpet: - shop vac and stiff brush wipe out - pressure wash with detergent - pressure wash plain water - Bissel Pro Heat X2 steam cleaner - spray 'n wash (laundry detergent stain remover Plastics - vacuum - dusting with detail brushes - areospace 303 (my first time, as per this forum's suggestions...very nice) with a wipe down before hand leather: - Simoniz leather cleaner and conditioner - aerospace 303 wipe down [IMGhttp://i31.tinypic.com/2r6npqx.jpg[/IMG] AFTER
Good job on that interior. Like 911 said he SHOULD be thrilled with the job you did. Keep up the great work.
Wow thanks for the compliments guys! I actually enjoyed doing it aswell which a nice change from other kinds of work! No idea what I'd charge for a clay and a wax..6 hours labour maybe? hmmm The owner paid me in the truck with my boss and other co-worker present. He thanks me again and was basically selling my services to the other two guys "he could have charged me double and I would have been happy." so now I have a white mazda 3 that needs an interior job and a wax and a 2007 Audi A4 that needs a once-over aswell !! this is a great start for me! I'm very excited!! it's neat to work so closely with the customer and affect them directly. It's a nice feeling to see them happy. I am seriously contemplating starting my own business as a mobile detailer next summer. Here in ontario, I can get a $3000 grant from the government if I fit the criteria of starting a business between 19-25 for a 4 month period and am enrolled in post-secondary education. It's an involved process which requires mentoring. This would pay for ALL my start up costs!!! I'd get myself a proper paint correction tool, stock up on chemicals and polishes and buy myself a half decent extractor/steamer! I am definitely going to need some advice from you guys on the products and tools that are necessities to have in a detail shop..and some advice on pricing etc.! I've got some ideas of my own I will throw into the mix that should help give me a competitive edge. I have ties to a high-traffic online store, a local "tuner" shop (whom may need a detailer) and good reputation with the toronto supra club. Basically, I have a whole network of customers to advertise to already. I'll post these questions formally when the time comes a little closer. I'm loving this forum the more time I spend on it. such a fantastic resource!
You did a great job, and a amazing turn around on a dirty interior! But sounds like you have a good start with what you want to do, I wish you the best of luck. Ask away if you have any questions on anything I think the people on this board you will find someone who has used the product.:thumb:
