Justin and I did this one last weekend. The owner was on a tight budget so we chose to go with a 1-step correction that yielded more defect remove vs. optimal gloss...though D300 did finish down very well on this hard clear.

    Process:

Wash - Foam bath mixed with CGCW and OPC mixture followed by a wash with CGCW.
Wheels - Sonax FE and various brushes.
Tires - OPC, dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing
    Decon - IronX and TarX
Clay - Blackfire Clay with M34 as lube
Paint correction - D300 on the GG6 with Megs MF cutting pads (2 passes in several areas)
    Glass - Megs D120
    LSP - Blackfire Wet-Diamond

    IronX doing it's thing...

After the decon was all done the paint really came back to life again...it's amazing how much contaminated paint can effect the look of the paint on a car.

Looking sharp :thumb: Nice job guys

Just a heads up to save you a bit of time doing e46 (and especially M3s), the side grilles and kidneys can easily be removed, on the grilles, you just have to lift the lowest rail on the grille up/out while lifting the 2 clips/pins in the bottom with a flat screwdriver. I tape the head of the screwdriver, so that it doesn't mark the plastic.

The kidneys are even easier to remove, just push the clips on the inside.

    Kind regards,

    Ebbe

    Thanks guys!

    Thanks!

I removed the side grilles and the kidneys on this 2012 M3. We also replaced the kidney grilles on Justin's (E36) M3 too. Maybe the E46 is easier to do, but after doing those other two cars I'd much rather tape them off. I'm also not a fan of removing trim that is held on by plastic clips...they tend to break easy and it's just not a risk I'd like taking with a clients car. ;)

Thanks for the tip though. I'll check them out on the next one I do...they did seem less secure on this car and rattled while polishing the fender...

I like I like. Owner definitely has a nice mod list going: CSL trunk, BBS wheels, black roof, black kidney grilles, smoked side markers :thumb:
