Well Calgarydetail (Mike), crossroad (Justin) and I we got together to detail Mike’s dads vehicle, why? Well I’ve been going through a paint correction withdrawal and I had to polish something  so what better way to get together with a few friends, have some laughs and well do some paint correction :thumb:

    The vehicle:

    2000 Buick Park Avenue Ultra

The vehicle had been polished before by Mike, with a PC and some Poorboy products but since then nothing had been done to it, besides the regular quick wash. Well it was a perfect vehicle to satisfy my need to correct something, the colour was perfect :thumb:

Now we brought the vehicle where the Detailing Bliss Detail Fest is going to be held, lets just say the owner and I get along well :thumb:. Well we had a bunch of bays for us to use and here is how we started:

Mike gave the vehicle a quick rinse and started getting things ready for the wash and the rims.

To wash the vehicle we used Optimum Car Wash with a nice Adams wash mitt, the wash mitt is wicked, makes some nice suds and Optimum does a great job at lubricating the surface.

Justin was feeling a bit left out so Justin took over for Mike with the washing of the vehicle:

Wile Justin was washing the rest of the vehicle, Mike got started on the rims, tires and wheel wells, Mike used P21S Gel for the rims and wheel wells. With the help of a long reach brush Mike made quick work of the wheel wells:

P21S Gel was agitated with the EZ brush:

Mean wile Justin kept on working away:

This is how the vehicle looked when Justin and Mike were done:

Now for the rinse, man it makes a big difference being in a washing bay :thumb:

Now comes the claying part, we went with our good, reliable friend Ricardo Clay bar. Mike and Justin cut one bar into three peaces, well they tried lol:

Now for clay lube we used more Optimum Car Wash soap  Mike’s idea, but it works just fine with the Ricardo clay bar:

Vehicle had some contamination but not bad at all, here’s one of the peaces of clay bars when we were done:
As you can see nothing too, too bad on the clay bar.

Well once we were done claying the vehicle it was time to give it another rinse, this time it was Justin’s turn to rinse:

Once the vehicle had been rinsed off it was time to dry the vehicle, for drying the following towels were used:
Justin used the Cobra Guzzler and Mike used The Dehydrator Drying towel

Here are the boys hard at work:

Once the vehicle had been dried off it was time to take some paint gauge readings:

Overall the vehicle had reasonable amount of paint, here is a graph to illustrate all the readings Justin took:

Once the paint gauge readings were taken it was time to tape off the vehicle:

Oh look here is me taping off the vehicle, looks like Justin and Mike got a picture of me :paranoia:.

Well here is the vehicle all taped off:

Once the taping was done with the help of my 3M Sun Gun it was time to see what we were up against, oh I was exited when I saw this:

Well the entire vehicle had some wicked swirls, holograms all the good stuff we were looking for to correct :woo:

Well Mike was eager to get going on the polishing and he took the front:
Mike went with Menzerna Intensive Polish, Makita rotary and a Meg’s Polishing Pad to test it out first.

Here is a 50/50 picture of what Mike achieved on the hood:

I on the other hand went with my Metabo (oooh it felt so good using the Metabo again) 3M backing plate, Scholl pads and Scholl products:
I first used a Medium cutting Scholl foam pad with S17, here is how one pass looked like:
Well I wasn’t very satisfied with the first pass so I thought I’d step it up :woo:

    Went with the stronger stuff:
Scholl cutting wool pad with S02 with my Metabo at 1500rpm then followed up with Medium cutting Scholl foam pad with S17 and finished off with a Scholl Extra Fine black pad with S40 and her are the results:
Now these are much better results, I was happy with these and that was the combo for me :thumb:

Here is another 50/50 picture of the Scholl combo I had going:

Well that took care of the correction, all three of us came up with a process though and it went something like this.

Justin took Mike’s Makita because his cheap rotary (and I mean cheap) just wasn’t cutting it hahaha literally hahahaha any who Justin was partnered up with the Makita and a cutting wool pad with Menzerna Power Gloss. Mike borrowed my Makita and followed up with Menzerna Intensive Polish with a Megs Polishing pad, I teamed up with my Metabo, Scholl medium cutting pad and S17. That was the tag team action and it worked well.

Once all the correction was done, Mike rinsed the vehicle off because it had dust all over the place. Must have been the Scholl and Menzerna Power Gloss combo. We all wanted to try out CG EZ Creme Glaze and Mikes new Polishing Pal:
Now we were all impressed with the EZ Creme Glaze, it added some nice extra depth to the paint, now the LSP. For the LSP we went with Lusso Oro. Mike is going to be posting his opinion on this product as he’s the one that applied it and got really personal with it  Justin and I we just removed, one thing I did notice about it is that it was hard to tell where it had been applied, it looked as though it went on smooth and it came of easy as well, well here are some (um lots) of the end results:

Man look at those two standing around with there hands in there pockets, the nerve of some people I tell you ahahahahaha

Well between the three of us we were able to finish this vehicle off in under four hours, this detail was fun, I had a blast chatting with both of you guys and detailing on a washing bay is much better then in my garage…well the bay could use more lights but the 3M Sun Gun worked great :thumb:

I’ll let Calgarydetail and crossroad provide there feed back on products and what they thought of the detail, so come on Calgary and crossroad give us some feed back oh and Calgary is going to give feed back on the Lusso Oro.

Hope you guys enjoyed the detail, I had a blast and I need more vehicles to polish  well maybe next weekend right Mike, right Justin?

thanks for the write up carlos

and thanks both of you for the help on the car. It was a nice surpise for my dad when he got home from his trip.

We did not do a full paint correction as the car is old (8 years) and the clear was getting thin is some spots, but all and all we got 95-99% of the defects out

thanks carlos and justin for the help

Great writeup, Carlos. I was very impressed with the menz. products; They break down nicely, and come off well; yet don't dust up too much either. A little goes a long way with these products. The best surprise of them all was the CG EZ, it added a different dimension to te product. I'll leave the overall review of the Lusso to Mike, but my initial thoughts are that it is a lot like Souverign. It didn't really seem to add a ton to the paint, maybe a little gloss.

had a great time with you guys today, I think we accomplished a lot.

Another great write-up! Glad you boys liked using the EZ Creme Glaze, top product! And I agree with you: the Lusso Oro is very hard to tell where it has been applied!

No need to thank me, I love doing these write ups :yippie: Glad your dad liked the detail, just don't tell him about my booboo :shakehead: hahahahaha.

I had fun we need to do it again next weekend, no excuses :tlaw:

We had a blast detailing this vehicle and I think we did more :bla2: :bla2: :bla2: then work but we managed to get the vehicle done in a reasonable amount of time..heck I just wanted to polish :woot:

Glad you enjoyed it Rocco oh and Calgary was teasing me about how his brush has bristles and mine well not so much hahahahaha can't wait till the goodies arrive :applause2:

Yea it was fun detailing with some boys, it wont be the last time we do this either :thumb:. I have to admit though the EZ stuff gave the vehicle some wicked depth :applause2: :applause2: look forward on using it some more.

:chest: yup it was fun getting together with you buys :drinking: it was fun chatting, sharing ideas, tips and tricks. Yes, I agree we did accomplish quite a bit :thumb: look forward to the next one...caugh..next weekend :giggle:

No worries sneek maybe next time :peace:

Yea that Adams mitt was wicked, it made so much sud it was crasy that and filling a bucket full of water with a PW was fun to wach :lol2:. The taping hahahaha well we may have gone a bit overboard on it :woo: :woo: but man I was so eager to polish that I wanted to remember the taping thing again hahahahaha.

hahahaha the scissors was funny oh you should have seen them trying to cut three evenly peaces of clay hahahaha lets just say I got the small peace hahahahahaha :lol2: :lol2: glad you enjoyed it Sparkmyster :thumb:

Thanks for the feed back and glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you Pat, glad you enjoyed it :thumb:

Thank you for the feed back but yea that EZ Creme is something else. Gives the vehicle that wet look, to be honest I think the EZ Creme did more then Lusso. I can see why you like this product so much...definetly using this product some more oh and it's funny because Calgary was applying Lusso and Justin and I were supposed to remove it and we had to ask Calgary were he had applied it beucase we couldnt' tell where he had applied it hahahaha.

Thank you joe :thumb: glad you enjoyed it bro :chest:

Yea, detailing in a group is fun man look forward to the Detail Fest :thumb:

    Okay I think I got everyone :006:

    Very entertaining thread.. nice work...

Love the write up as usual Carlos, if you guys always use that much tape I am buying stock in 3M...lol

Bay looks awesome... mitt looks awesome and I may just have to try the Opt wash!!

I was expecting to see some blood in the picture after the one with the scissors and the clay..

Thanks for posting and I am soooo jealous about the correction IO am going through serious withdrawal.. I have been thinking about getting a scrap panel and doing it in my living room...lol

I'm not sure on the ratio, Calgary was the one getting the buckets ready

Come on Calgary you got people wayting now :waiting2:

Yea we may have over done it on the taping hahahahaha we used about 2 rolles of tape :giggle: a bit obsesive maybe hahahahaha.

Glad you enjoyed it Motor and man I have been itching to polish something just couldn't stand it any more and since I have good connections with the owner of the wash and Calgary donated his dad's vehicle I couldn't pass the opportunity. It was cold outside but inside it was prity good, not worm but not too cold either.

Actually I was quite impressed with how Menzerna and Scholl products behaved, there was lots of moisture in the washing bays from other vehicles being washed...oh that reminds me, every time a vehicle came in the wash they were all looking at us polish one lady pointed to the tape on the car and start laughing hahahahaha I couldn't help but giggle a bit too. We had a few people come up to us wanting a peack at what we were doing, kinda made me feel important hahahahaa well kinda.

Oh but any who I like the Scholl products, they have good working time and they kinda remind me of the 3M products you can keep working for a long time if you want. The wool pad was interesting too, I loved the size of the wool pad. Best part Metabo never gave me any problems but mind you the temperature was ideal for it.

Well I'm so glad I got to polish something, I need another vehicle to polish...looks like I'll be visint DB Boss's house for one of his cars :applause2:

lol it's fun detailing with other guys, I thought we would be tripping all over our selves but we all took sections, came up with a plan and went to work. Best part is all the chatting that takes place...I think the more the better if you ask me but that's just me.

Yea you and OrngeZ need to hook up and don't forget your camera :flirt:
