I got my PC last weekend for my birthday. I gave it a go on my 06 Avalanche yesterday.

I've come to the conclusion that I need to figure out how to take better pics. I took a ton of pics and only the ones below actually came out where you can see anything.

I washed the truck 1st using 2 bucket method.

    Meguirs Gold Car Wash
    2 Buckets - Grit Guards
Clayed using Adam's Clay and Griots Speed Shine as a lube
    Meguirs 105
    Meguirs 205
    DP Paint Sealant
    Adam's Buttery Wax
    PC 7424
Edge 5" pads, yellow, green, white

I did my test section and it took me some time to dial in my process. I started with the green edge pad and 105, but it wasn't enough cut, so I went to the yellow with 105. Then the green with the 205 and put the sealant on with the white finishing pad.

Overall I got about 90% of the scratches out of the hood and the drivers side fender (only areas I did).

Below are a few pics, at least the ones that came out.

Looks like everything is coming along nicely. Keep it up and post pics when you're done.

Just went out and did my tailgate today. Took me about an hour and 40 minutes. That includes all prep and clean up.

This pic looks like there is stuff all over the paint, but that's actually just paint on my shirt. Crappy clothes!

Looks like a great job so far. The PC take a little while to dial in but it's a pretty good machine. Very user friendly. Can't wait to see the finished pics!

Looks good! One thing though... when you get haze like that in the finish after buffing it means that you're not breaking the product down long enough. Give it a few more passes next time and it'll be perfect! :thumb:

105 and 205 don't diminish or break down. I have a POS point and shoot camera, and sometimes my pics look hazy too, even if the actual paint doesn't. Looks pretty good to me.

Yeah the paint is crystal clear now. It's def the POS camera I have. My girlfriend has a Cannon Rebel that I need to start using. But that camera is big and is tough to hold with one hand while I have my light in the other hand. This weekend was really cloudy too or I would have just pulled the truck out in the sun and used that camera.

I've also noticed that my point and shoot has crap all over the lens, so sometimes it looks like there are spots in the camera.

Lookin good. What did you end up doing around the beveled "C H E V R O L E T" on the tailgate? I haven't had to detail that model year before, but whenever I'm behind one I wonder how in the heck I'd get decent pad contact around there.

    Tell me about it! :crasy:
