One of my advertisers wanted to get his brother a birthday present, and decided to get his brothers car detailed by me. I've known him for quite a while, so decided to give him a heck of a deal. Exterior only. Here's the pictures before any polishing. As you will see it looks good from far, but far from good: From far away. Outside pics. Partly cloudy sky, so the full effect isn't felt of the damage. And after wash, clay, and under the halogens. The weak stomached may want to leave now. I only have half the hood done right now, as the decontamination stage took FOREVER. I wasn't able to start the car until 3:30pm. Wash, wheels, claybar took 5 hours. Process (actually, probably finished) pics tomorrow, as I have to have the vehicle back by tomorrow morning. Can't get to work on it again until like 3:00 this afternoon. Gonna be a late night!
I'm excited about this. I love that body style Impala. One of my favorite cars was the 96' Caprice Police Inerceptor. Also known as a four door vette. :laughing:
2 passes of SIP on orange cleaned up 80-85% of the defects on the hood. There are a lot of deeper rids that can't be removed without compounding, and I just don't have the time to compound, refine, and burnish.
In the second to last picture, you will see the impala ss lettering on the fender. It's exceptionally large. In the whole vehicle pics, you can see it takes up a large portion of the rear fender. Impossible to polish around by machine. What would you guys suggest? I was thinking SSR2 and a mf. I have for polishes: 1Z intensiv paste 1Z high gloss polish 1Z final finish PB SSR3 PB SSR2 menz power glos menz SIP menz 106fa menz po85rd menz final polish II

just got in for the night. I still have to polish the roof. I.m freakin tired. I hate polishing by hand. And there is no shortage of tight spots around emblems and such. Most of the car got 2 passes with sip on orange ccs or uber green. Since the car is fourteen years old and has never been properly maintained, there are a lot of defects that can only be removed with wool. I.m going to talk to the owner tomorow to see if he wants me to remove the rest in a few months.
I would give my left nut for one of those, swirls or not. Make sure you show us pics of the finished product, regardless if it is mar free or not.
rboe is curing right now. taking forever, as it.s really humid outside. wondering if i should just use a spritz of qd to help remove it. it.s not really marring. looks like the owner is a fan of using a cali water blade. i was able to finish down pretty well, but the marks i couldn.t remove are like scratch depth. oh, and the clear is failing on both bumpers, so i only used lusso revitalizing creme on a black pad with the pc to shine them up the best i could. pics in a couple hours
Looks like fun! Nice car too, can't wait for the after pics. I hate when I can't completely correct a car due to failure and whatnot.
And a few pictures. for some reason, most didn't turn out nice. These are the best out of the bunch. the guy only works a couple blocks from me, so I can go snap some pics another time hopefully. My suspicions were correct about the water blade. It's what he uses all the time when he washes. Anyways, here's a few: Another note. I dont' know what was on the damn tires, but no matter what I tried, they would not give up this reddish color. I applied SC beyond black anyways, and it helped a little. But those tires were really frustrating, and I was disappointed I didn't get a desirable result.
I'm really pissed at the picture quality. I'm going to try to get some more tomorrow. Edited to add, the orange peel on this was one of the worst ones I've seen. It almost looked like the hood wasn't even wetsanded. So, just keep in mind what I was working with.
Thanks. The pictures do it no justice. I had good lighting at a church parking lot, then some old guy came out, and started talking cars for like a half hour. By the time we were done, it was completely overcast.
The reason for no process pics, is because I taped the vehicle up, got everything ready for a nice photo shoot, snapped the first pic, and see "no CF card" on the display. I had left the memory card at work, and wasn't going to waste a good hour by retrieving it. So, afters are the only pics I have. Sorry!
Oh process: Wash: Optimum Power Clean presoak 2BM with CWC at prep dilution Dried with WW MF's and meg's LT as drying aid. Clay: Sonus Green with LT as lube. Polish: Menz PG in some spots Menz SIP then when that started acting up, I switched to 1Z intensiv paste po85rd on about 1/4 of the vehicle, then I got strapped for time.
