1-Series M Coupe will officially launch in December and goes on sale in Europe next spring By Alex Ricciuti July 20, 2010 9:00 am Filed Under: BMW, German, Rumours More details have surfaced on the upcoming 1-Series M Coupe by performance division BMW M GmbH. According to 1addicts.com site-contributor Scott26, an alleged BMW insider with credible history of being correct, says the 1-Series M Coupe will officially launch in December of this year (2010) with a world premiere taking place at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2011. Test drives for the international automotive press will begin next March, when the model makes its European debut at the Geneva auto show early that month. The 1-Series M Coupe will go on sale in Europe in the spring shortly after the Geneva show while the United States will see the 1-Series M in dealerships only in the summer. Hopefully, we'll get an unadulterated look at the 1-Series M Coupe before that official December launch date.
i'm right with you on that one. Wonder what the specs will be. I would be damned if they packed a v8 or v10 into that small light weight car LOL. You would probably need a shoe horn to do so.
from what i just read it seems to possibly be coming with a slightly beefier version of the N54 inline 6 motor with a single turbo . Here ya go: Although the 300-hp 135i has switched from the twin-turbo N54 to the single-turbo N55 engine, the 1-series M coupe—like other BMWs recently unveiled with high-powered inline-sixes—gets a more powerful version of the N54, upgraded to about 335 hp. It’s mated to a slick six-speed manual gearbox—no automatic or dual-clutch transmission will be offered. Segler’s troops still might shave a few pounds off the 135i’s total of almost 3400, but there is no budget for expensive lightweight materials. Zero-to-60 times should be in the mid-four-second range, and top speed will be governed to 155 mph. As it does with other M cars, BMW might offer the option to raise the limit, but we doubt it would go much beyond 170. straight from car and driver magazine
Doing a v8 M3 swap would be pure madness ... I wonder how's gonna be the first one to do it :worship2:
yeah that's basically like tossing a huge motor into a hatchback as that car is so small and light. Someone who is into modding BMW's will do a v8 swap with either a turbo or supercharger setup and it will be ridiculously crazy LoL. Then at that point the problem will be getting all that power to the ground. Would be senseless to do and have a 600hp car if all it does is burn rubber :headbang:
Judging by the much wider rear fenders, it loks like you can get some seriously large meat under there, even more then what BMW is running on the test mule...
