A customer who has a M3, he wanted to know if I could "Work on" his wife's car........little did I know what I was in for. During wash, 2 hours to strip off the LSP. Now that the car was stripped............ I found the paint like this. Hood with crust/acid rain damage/deep RIDS. Clearfilm with "Rotary compound swirls". He we go...........over 14 microns removed to get the one side like this(The car had excellent readings and being a Lexus...high quality paint that came back to almost new condition). Trunk was so bad the reflections from the halogens can barely be made out. 50/50 improvement pics. Trunk restored, reflection under the halogens and T8 Daylight bulbs. RIDS. Defects removed. Lower rockers were not immune to marring either. Making progress during cutting phase. Film was almost a total loss, started to think I might not be able to correct it. "B" pillars were as bad as you want.... During cutting /compound stage.
Before. After. Sun pic time. Rear bumper was NOT touched.....32 microns measured from hack re-spray(Customer is going to tightness approved body shop). Clearfilm restored. Pre-delivery pics....... Time to clean the floors in the shop.........just a little compound dust issue(Understatement). Going home to happy wife................never get tired of a happy customer reaction.
What types of low-glycemic carbohydrate snacks did you pair with your Refreshe water during this Bob? Lots of material to play with, lots of material to remove. Very thick looking on the gloss department.
Gluten free. Great work Bob. Tightness achieved! Don't you just LOVE Lexus paint? Very little orange peel, great readings and easy correction.
Partial to SOBE "Life water" @ the moment, and cliff bars, lesser paint finishes would not have survived the "Cruelty" the previous owners of the car before my client picked up the this vehicle......................car looks nice for a 07 with over 70,000 miles on the odometer, new wheels and a restorative correction turned back the clock.
Clif Mojo in PB Pretzel and Honey Roasted Peanut by the caseness. Many deliciouses. Definitely a good thing the car hadn't been "taken down" so much over the 5 years or so its lived. Very good looking refresh with the upgrades
great stuff bob. Love cliff bars, been eating them since their inception many years ago when I race mountain bikes and road bikes. very smooth looking paint
I like cliff bars but I'm cutting right now and need as much protein I can get for calorie value. Sometimes I'll get Pure Protein bars but generally I eat a lot of lean meat and Myofusion Cookies and Cream protein powder. Gotta watch the carbs a bit too, especially after a cheat meal\day. That being said, car looks great Bob. Really captures that " under glass look that you coined the other day.
I do the same after a run with my Kona Coiler, i wash it down with some hippie brew (Pabst) . Horrible beer but good enough after a tough ride.
The 50/50's blow my mind. How long (approximately) did it take a professional like yourself to correct half the trunk?
How do these so called "detailer shops" charge to add more swirl marks to a car? Great work fixing their mistreatment.
Beautiful, perfect, work, Bob ! That paint was so scratched from washing alone, it looked like a different color before you started it, Ill bet. Did one of these (black), awhile back, and one door had been severely hacked by some Detailer so bad the Client was thinking he was going to have to repaint it. My good buddies, Lake Country Purple Foam Wool and Meguiars 105 and Rotary Power made that nastiness all go away. Echo your opinion - Lexus does make really nice paint and applies it better than a lot of other car makers. Its always a treat to get a Lexus - even a big-boat like this one, to do. Stunning result !! Thanks for sharing ! Dan F
