Hey everyone, I've finally gotten around to using the new camera to photograph detailing jobs that I've been doing. Sorry for going crazy with the pictures, I'll be marking spots on the ground from now on where I should take the pictures, and I'll be documenting where and when so I can do a proper write-up in terms of what the problem was, what solution was provided, what the result was. I just got excited taking the pictures of the car that I forgot that basic principle to keep the write-up clean and efficient. Anyways, I went camera happy and I took a lot of pictures of the car, but I did document some things and I'll explain them throughout the write-up. Please bear with me, I was dealing with on and off thunder storms the entire day, so some pictures were shot inside. The Car A 2007 White Honda Civic Sedan, bought new by the owner who looked me up on a forum I'm part of based on past work I've done for a lot of those members there. Based on pictures of his car that he sent me, I offered a wash, clay and vacuum, he opted for the whole shebang including the polishing and sealant application. Since I love doing this kind of work, I agreed. The car was covered in a greasy, grimy film that only shows on white paint because the owner admitted he hasn't taken the time to wash the car at all since the winter time, and that while he did clay it himself, he noticed a lot of the orange rail dust/industrial fall out, cling on dirt that sticks to white paint a lot. Also the car was dented on the rear driver side door and there was a lot of paint rub off. However, because the car had been babied for a bit, there wasn't heavy swirling, so I could use a lighter polish to remove it. Wash - Foamed with DP Extreme Foam - Washed with Poorboys SSS Clay - Riccardo Yellow Clay Bar - ONR Based Clay Lube Polish - Menzerna 106ff on a white pad - Paint clean-up with XMT360 LSP - Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze (sometihng we all have and dread using, ) Interior - Wiped down and disinfected with Megs APC 10:1 - Dressed and Protected with 303 - Odor Gon Applied - BEFORE: Like I said before, these pictures will try to show you the following: Paint imperfections, grease/dirt, things that need to be clayed, and bug splatter and whatever. Notice the paint transfer on this pic: some close ups: Close ups of areas that need claying buy are very obvious: Interior: ENGINE DURING Tires, look at the grime that just rolls off the tires and wheels. Car being foamed: For those who two bucket wash, here is my WATER bucket after washing the entire car once, a lot of that greasy grime seems to turn my water black.... and i know because my grit guard in this bucket is BLUE : CLAYING: Here is a quick set of pictures of detailing clay at work fixing the: paint transfer, orange spots, and in general the whole car: And... after the whole car: AFTER: Here are a lot of after shots showing the areas I showed in the before section after they had been clayed, polished and LSP'ed. Enjoy guys! ENGINE: INTERIOR: change I found: Thanks for looking!
wow you did a incredible job. I just dont know how people let there cars get in that condition, especially the interior, I can see the exterior most people dont care. But, you spend all your time inside and I know I cant stand a mess inside of the car. None the less great job bringing that shine back!
Great post! I don't think you'll get many complaints about posting too many pictures! Can't wait for your next one.
Thanks for that, the owner actually is a golf enthusiast and a lot of the dirt comes from his shoes, cart, etc. Sand trap if possible, heh. He also had a dog, but I don't think that was a problem. It was a pleasure for me to be able to turn it around somewhat. Heh, I'll be posting a Mazda 3 in two days, and a G35 the day after, I'll keep you posted and as always, thank you for the compliment.
Wow that thing was beat to hell, nice save! I may have missed it, but what are those white bottle things hanging on the vent on the dash?
nice work. lots of contamination on the paint. A car that is only a couple years old should not be looking like that. nice save.
It's a very cool looking air freshener, nice and subtle. Thanks everyone for the compliments, I think a lot of you would feel the same way....you'd love to take on a car like that or worse and you'd do it now!
Marvelous job man! I couldn't help but notice the license plate, you're in the GTA? Mind if we get together and you give some tips to a newb?
That'd be awesome! Are there any meets happening anytime soon? I've got Uni in September and its all the way in Waterloo so its going to be a bit tough to make it then..
Thanks Richy, it's funny you mentioned that the Honda is a female, lol...the paint was soft, with body having very nice and easy to work curves...lol. To be honest, I think I should be investing in some more P21 TAW, i'll try to pick up a jug, it'll make something like this a tad easier. Also, is there any more aggressive clay that will take less elbow grease to remove a lot of that stuff?
