So this is my first show and shine write up I have done so lets hope i get this right! This detail was over the course of 3 days as it has been hot and humid in NC and was not in a big rush to get it completed. I still have some final touches left such as putting back on the fog light grills and getting putting some dressing on tires and such but I thought I would just do the write up and post up more pics later! Interior: Leather - 1z Leather Care Zymol Leather Cleaner Dash - Poorboy's Natural Look Exterior: Polish: Menz 106FF (White LC pad) Menz SIP (white lc, orange lc) - were needed Glaze: CG EZ-Creme Glaze (Sonus Blue) LSP: Wolfgang DGPS 3.0 RBOE Wheels: DP Wheel Glaze Xylene (Major part of Tardis) Tools: Porter Cable DA Foam Gun Swissvax Style Brushes Wheels: Cleaned wheels with APC and SV style brushes. Used Xylene to clean off tar on the wheels. After - Still some tar spots that need to be removed Put a coat of DP wheels glaze on the wheels Polishing the car. I did the whole car with Menz 106FF as the paint was not in bad condition. No real swirl marks and the scratches that were in the paint could not be seen unless it was i bright sun and only the right light. I went over some areas with SIP such as around the driver door handle and some ares that had deeper scratches. I was not looking for 100% correction but more like 90% as it is a DD. Driver side after polishing and IPA wipe down: Then used the old style Sonus Blue pad to apply CG glaze. I have to say that this stuff is amazing, it gives the paint such great depth. Put on a coat of WG DGPS 3.0 and let it cure for a hour before buffing: After letting the sealant cure for 12 hrs i put on a coat of RBOE. I had a sample pot of it and wanted to try it out. I also put WG Fuzion on half the hood just to check out the durability of both. I could not tell the difference between the two looks wise, but then again I am the wrong person to find the difference. I dont know why but wax's look the same to me?!? Just see how they hold up as the weeks go by. I will be taking more pics hopefully later today or tomorrow!
Congrats on your 1st Show & Shine....you broke your cherry, you broke your cherry..hahahhaha..Seriously, what a glow that red has..very nice indeed. The wheels look great. You'll turn lots of heads rolling down the street now!!
haha, I cant stop going outside and looking at it in the garage. In a nice low light it is a perfect mirror almost. The crispness is just amazing. I have done details on it before but never really spend the time to do it the right way. I learned a lot going through the DB and just how to work the polish and RBOE really gives it a nice look!
In my eyes I didnt see a difference, but I know that everyone will see different things in wax's. But in the end all that matters is that you are happy with your car. :headbang:
yea, for the most part I feel its what the clear looks like under the wax.. the properly finished surface does it all..
Nice one! Man that thing is RED! Regarding the different look of waxes...my opinion is that this is best seen on metallic paints, or colors that are at either end of the spectrum (whites and blacks). Your bright, intense red will probably only look bright, intense red. Just my opinion. Anyway, great first writeup! Love your car. --Karl (EDIT: I've rethought my previous statement on the looks thing, and I take that back. You can see the difference, at least, I feel that I can.)
Congrats and great job on the first one. I really like these cars a lot and you have the red looking nothing short of stunning.
Yeah I think there are differences in some wax's but I think with red its hard as its 1st off I have a solid red. I agree that dark colors and metallic's are easy to see. I was looking at it more and RBOE has more of a crisp look to it than Fuzion. I think I may just go ahead and get a full pot of RBOE. Everyone else, thanks for the comments!
Anyone know of a good product to dress the front grill. It is a matte black plastic and just want to know of a decent product to make it a nice black?
You got lovely car mate, love hot hatches. Lovely detail and a very nice finish. This color really looks nice when properly detailed.
