This was a guy that was referred to me from another client of mine. He has a black 03 Mustang GT that told me before my arrival that the paint was in ok condition and that there were several select areas that needed focusing on. Sadly he was wrong, the whole car needed focusing. Upon arrival I thought the car was partially gray and not black. It looks like the previous owner washed it with an SOS pad and thought it would be cool to let water spots etch the paint. The paint was completely etched on every panel, enough so that more serious correction will need to be done at some point. Well in short, given the time I had and what the guy was willing to pay I went for a 1 step process and focused on clearing up the paint and getting as many swirls as possible out. After just purchasing 105 I thought I would give it a shot but after doing some IPA wipedowns quickly realized that I would need a different combo because 105 seemed to be doing more filling than correcting. I guess I will need more practice with it. So I opted for Prima Swirl and an LC Orange Pad. This brought the paint to a decent finish given my restraints. I was so tempted to just work into the night and go all the way. As my LSP I chose to first hit the paint with Prima Amigo (more of a cleaner) which works great to bring clarity to black paint then followed up with Blackfire Wet Diamond which was great. The pictures do not do the finish justice from where the car started. Enjoy! faded no shine Hood Left side unpolished, right side polished Hood After Driver's Door After Rear Quarter After Passenger Door Before Then after that picture I quickly realized I was running out of daylight so I halted on the pictures and finished the car so here are the afters. I have a point and shoot so it made the pictures a bit fuzzier as the sun was going down. As you can see I was able to get a decent amount of correction done with that one step but I do think there was definitely more room for improvement. Thanks for looking! Chas
Nice work! What setting do you use on your cam? I have a hard time getting decent reflection shots with my point and shoot.
I have it on action mode, I am always paranoid I will get shaky shots even with face capture so I keep it on action mode, that or portrait.
