i have been finding that my FK425 is streaking sometimes on black paint. i am using it straight, should i be diluting it at all? it just smears all over the paint and leaves a slightly oily residue, and when in the sun it looks like sweating wax...

Try using less or spraying the MF instead of the paint. Also, check your MF as over time they loose their ability to absorb.

i know that... my MF's are in pretty good shape. i wash them with woolite and vinegar in the rinse... i use Detailed Image's reTHICKulous towels for QDing

I've also found that fk425 tends to cause hazing when applied over a fresh layer of wax, but not over all waxes. Has happened with Concorso and Pinnacle Sig Series II. Try spraying the MF instead and see if that solves the problem. I always use two MFs for QD's, one for applying and another for a second pass, that ensures that no residue is left behind.

I found its best to use 2 MF's to do QD'ing....one to apply it and a dry one to wipe it off....since the application one get wet after awhile and it is just like applying it again....you will see it will not streak....

I have had 425 streak before ..but was on hot paint and on a dark color so it showed...but that was an exception..was hot

I just bought a gallon of FK-425 because everyone is saying that it is so good and now I start hearing the negative side. Well I quess I can use it for clay lube if worse comes to worse. I don't find it to be oily. I do use the two towel trick though It's better that way. I also use it sparingly. You know what they say, to much of a good thing will streak your paint.

I spray it directly on the surface, spread it with a Uber towel, and buff with a reTHICKulous mf from DI. No streaks, looks great.

on hot paint virtually anything will streak. that was my # 1 issue when a product would haze whether it be a synthetic qd, nuba qd, nat qd, or any lsp, if the car is hot forget it.

i gotta say i just got a ton of fk425.. a 32oz bottle and a gallon.. i love the stuff. it really does keep the dust away.. about 1/6 the dust of a regular nuba..

buuuuuttttt it really doesn't add that much depth and doesn't really improve beading like a nuba based qd which also adds more depth. so it's a trade off. want more depth use a nuba based qd ..i love CG's white nuba qd or field glaze.. i really really like Swissvax quick finish and the nano express both add depth and gloss.. where as i feel i like using fk 425 for it's easy on and off application for antistatic goodness but not for depth and gloss as quick finish kills fk in that category hell the cg nuba qd kills it also. and both will help with beading whereas fk 425 asisted very little. i did half the hood with fk 425 and the other half with cg white nuba qd and the difference was insane.. crazy beads on the nuba side.. then did the same thing with quick finish and noticed a dramatic change on the fk 425 side for the better.. too bad my camera was loaned out for the weekend :(

always next time.. i think depending on how much dust you collect i might use 2 qd's.. quick finish or nano express then top it with fk 425 for it's anti static properties. that way you get the depth and the anti static.. just shocked fk 425 doesn't help beading better.
