These are the pads from lady on ebay. They look and feel good. They have alot less 3m branding on them than the pads you buy at the paint shop. The white pads have a small 3m logo whereas the black pad has none. Therefore i cannot tell if they are actually real. But at $25 for all the pads its still a good deal. I also picked up some clay to try out from griots along with some wheel cleaner. Which i really like for chrome rims. I picked up a small order containing wheel brightener and wax blaster from autogeek.

And my favorite part is the new tools. I picked up a milwaukee polisher, air gun, and a porter cable air polisher.

The white pad is a compounding pad
The black pad is a polisher pad
Not sure on the wool i think its a finishing wool pad

What's the stroke on that air polisher? gmblack3a did some investigating and I can't remember what he said would be 'best' to minimize pigtails but in short nobody in the states had them with that short of a stroke so he had to get them from overseas if I remember right.

    yes 5 1/4" pads.

You guys are putting me on the spot with this. I barely know anything about it other than what griots garage says about it.

Didnt mean to corner ya :itsok:

It looks like its a PTS3 Porter-Cable 5" Random Orbit Air Sander...
Here are the specs for it:

    Avg. SCFM req. @ 90 PSI: 15.0
    12,000 RPM
    3/16" orbit
    Non-vacuum
Built-in speed control with rear exhaust
    Lightweight, low profile design
Ergonomic rubber comfort grip provides maximum operator control
    Smooth, swirl-free finishes

I remeber the post refering to the importance of the stroke length but dont remember the specifics. Your going to need a healthy air compressor to run that sander...its hungry for air.

It better put out more than 15cfm or it will drive you crazy and take forever to get anything accomplished because you will allways be waiting for the compressro to "catch up".
Just because the tank is large dosent mean anything.

I have not used them yet but they seem the same as the ones that are sold at an auto body shop, which i really like.

That Milwaukee polisher looks sweet. Let me know how you like it. I might be in the market for something that weights a bit more than a DeWalt. :D

I got my within a week. They never sent me a confirmation but if you check on ebay under order details there might be one listed.

I used it for three days on on our boat and so far i love it. I am kinda new with hi speed polishers as i have used a pc in the past. It is alittle heavy but you get used to it. You can tell it's made with quality and it's bulletproof. It has a few nice features: trigger, removable cable, stays cool. The only con is it dosent go faster than 1750 rpm. But thats if you need it to
