OK guys I am new to this forum but not the detailing world. I have searched for weeks for my some new products to try. I just bought my first NICE car a 2008 silver vette. I plan on the usual with some new products Please advise on your opinions. I really want a wet pop look. Thanks
Wash- Dawn (usually Meg gold class)
    Clay
Polish- Menzerna PO 91 or PO83? if needed (White pad)
Finish- Menzerna PO106 or PO87 (black or blue pad)
Should I then glase after a prepsol wipe down or go straight to a sealant and wax combo.
    Sealant-Wolf deep gloss paint sealant
    Wax - P21s 100%

Feel free to advise in any direction thanks again

That sounds like a great workflow. Glaze will give you a little wet look, but I think that step is a personal preference.

If you're going to polish, I wouldn't bother with the glaze.

Welcome, there are a few vette owners here.

Im assuming you're using a PC?

    Washing with Dawn isnt necessary.

I dont feel you need to use a glaze if you polish correctly. Id use SIP with whatever pad gets the job done (white, green, or orange). Then 106FF or 85rd with a blue or black pad. That depends on how you finish down SIP. If there are holograms or anything like that, then Id go with 106FF and a blue pad. Then 85rd and a red pad, or Micro Polish and a red pad. You can gain a lot from a 3 step process.

Do the prep sol wipe downs as you go along to make sure you're removing all imperfections.

Then apply your sealant and wait for it to cure, then top with 100% if you'd like.

Welcome fellow vette owner. I see no problem with washing the car one time with Dawn, it is not going to hurt anything. When I bought my vette, brought it home washed, clayed, sip with orange pad, 106FF with white, and then 85rd with a blue pad, no need for the red pad at all, the blue and black pads are what you want for the final polish. When I first purchased it new I was using Souveran now using Swissvax Mystery as my LSP. I really like the look of Wolfgang sealant and should work very well on your silver. I would agree there is no need for the glaze after final polish, it will not add a thing to the finish after using the Menzerna products. Let us know how the finished product looks when done and if you have any further questions there are several knowledgable people on here.

I would only use an orange pad with SIP on tougher scratches otherwise use a green pad with SIP and finish with 85rd on a blue pad and you will be very happy. Thanks for letting us know your choice of machines, this makes it easier in directing you in the right direction.

Its not that Dawn will hurt anything, it just isnt necessary. Use a regular car wash soap.

Wash, Clay and then prepsol wipedown before polishing. The idea is to ensure that all surface containments are removed before polishing. You will find your polishing to be much smoother and chatter free.

Of course (as noted above) you can use prepsol after each polishing step to ensure that nothing is being hidden.

How much extra do you think the wipe down helps, even after claying?

I would like to know as well, I have not ever heard of anyone doing that.

Claying just removes bonded surface contaminants, it doesn't remove previous wax or sealant layers.

Prep-sol is really important if you want to know exactly what your clearcoat surface looks like. Without using it in between steps it is likely that you have residual polishing oils that provide a slight "filling" effect.

I am not trying to say that Menzerna has "fillers," but merely that the polishing oils that are used to keep the surface lubricated do tend to fill in slight marring and minor scratches. Prepsol is needed in order to remove all the residual oils and give you a clear look at the bare clearcoat surface.

And I would tend to disagree with everyone who said to not use a glaze before applying an LSP. Even on silver, a glaze like Megs #7 can provide a big gloss enhancement, even if its filling properties aren't necessary. Although it isn't as big of a deal on silver, it can still be beneficial.

Remember that glazes aren't just for people who can't polish down 100%, they do give an added depth of gloss and color as well.

So pad chatter is from the paint not being clean? Is there anything else that can cause it?

I find that claying DOES remove wax and sealant.

OK, So now I am thinking this is how it will go:

    wash
    dry
    clay
    wash
    dry
sip p.o. 83 (orange pad) on rotary
    nano p.o 106 (white)
    micro p.o. 87 (black)
    wash
    prep wipedown
    DWG ???????????????????? (hand)
    p21s (hand)
