101 is a cleaner polish...its the original product....and has not changed much..its more glossy then 105 since it is just a cleaner sealant.... 111 is more of a pure sealant..it does have a little cleaner but the less of them all...so its considered a pure type sealant..it has the look of Klasse SG...very gloss but no real depth.... 105 is a mix of polymers and resins...so it has more of a waxed look...it has light cleaning also..DG told me it has very little cleaners ..then told some one else it has the most..but to me it does not clean to good..not like 101 or 501..501 is the strongest ...that stuff cleans deep in the paint...also this is the newest product to come out from them.... I took a sharpie marker on glass...I did 111..sharpie stayed...I did 105...it did fade the black a bit...not much...I did 101 ..it took it off....so thats how I tested the cleaning of them...I did the same on white paint also since its micro porus....and 101 did strip it off..501 will also..no problem Hope this helped you.... Al
That helped me alot! That means 501 can replace 101. No need for both. And it seems like the 501 - 105 is the best combo..
yes..I replaced 101 with 501...much better...and you get more for the money also....DG should revamp thier whole line and get rid of some of the old school stuff...but they are very laid back people...they were working on some new stuff..but they did not finish I guess or abandoned it.. but like I said they are very laid back country type people.... Al
501 is much stronger....it cleans way better than 101...here is a list strongest cleaning to less cleaning 501 101 105 111 the least...to almost none.. AL
Al.. nice..... someone needs to gather all this information and place it on page 1 of this thread to help others..
I was looking to start with Menzerna Intensive Polish PO 91E and an orange CCS pad Followed by Menzerna Micro Polish PO 87MC with white CCS pad then the DG 501 white pad? Either Collinite 845 or DG 111? what would bring out the shine of a white pearl better?
Bump for ya since I'm curious as well...since 501 is such a strong cleaner, I'd assume it would pretty much kill all the bonding properties. But I await the response from the DG gurus.
IN absence of DG gurus: I could be wrong but I think AL mentioned we really don't need to use #601 under or over #501 . Also on a surface which is already prepared and well cleaned by #501, it should be #501 ,then #105.
I use the 601 under the 105 b/c it helps it to bond better and speeds up the curing time. I spoke with Jerry from DG and he told me I could apply AW over 105 after a MINIMUM on an hour. 4 hours is best, but I usually don't have that much time when I'm doing someone's car.
richy is correct.. 501 is a paint cleaner on steroids ..601 is a bonding agent and does not need to removed all you do is apply 601 on the paint until it dissappears then follow up wit 105 and maintain the paints finish with AW ..
Oh good then I am doing it right, the 601 on top of 105 that is :thumb: Oops what I meant was 601 then 105 not the other way around  But I'll have to start using AW properly though, good tip guys eace:
Ok...here is my process.... I polish the paint with menz or Hi temp.... then I wash it after to ensure all residue is off the paint and crevices... I take 501 and work it on the paint at speed 3 ..I go around the whole car ..then come back and wipe it off.... I do the interior work next.... Then I apply 105 by hand with a polish pal....I prime the pad with a quick mist of AW first..just to have it slightly damp so it does not drag at first..then as you go along the pad gets more primed with 105 and its easy to spread product and I use less as I go along also.. Then I let it sit for 30-45 minutes while I either clean up or do windows outside...then I buff off.....after buffing I do it one more time to ensure its all off.. Done I use 601 mostly just for winter sealing...so if I do a car in say May..I do not use 601..when they come back in Sept Oct I do the same process with 501....601...105.... as far as the white car question....the 501 will really brighten the paint..you will see this for your self...I think Sparkie did a post where he did a white SUV or car and it was super white when done... for a topper of 111 or 845..I would do 111 for the summer and either Collinite 915 or 855 pastes for the winter...look much better than the 845 IW.... If you do decide to use the 845..wait a few days at least to let the sealant set up complete.... AL
Al I want to thank you for all the great info. I am goin to order some CCS pads, Menz or Hi Temp polish, DG 501, 105 and 111. Does either 105 or 111 look better for darker cars, light cars, white cars?? Thanks
to tell the truth..501 actually looks the best on white..why..I do not know..it just makes it so bright....and you will get 3-4 months out of it .....use Aquawax monthly on it also....If I had a choice of 111 or 105 on top of the 501 it would be 105..it will give a deeper look than 111... once you do the 501 ..you may not want to top it...lol...it just comes out so bright... if you see Sparkie or Shadybreal on ..pm them..they did a few cars in white I believe..get thier opinion also... the DG polishes look good on any color if the paint is done right.. AL
Just lil confused with: I wash the car, clay the car, use Menz IP for scratches and swirls, then 501? Or do I need to use 106ff before the 501? 501 is an AIO so for this time of year I really do not need to top it?
hey Sal.. after SIP, you should follow finishing polish of your choice such as 106ff or fa with a finishing pad then 501 is a prewax cleaner so i would top it off with your favorite sealant or wax... Check out Polishing and LSP section of this forum and you'll find alot of good info...
