Hello, These boards are so valuable for a weekend warrior with commitments, priorities (and a budget!) to balance, who stills really enjoys quality driveway time with my four wheeled friends.

I have three cars with dark paint - a dark blue, and a black subaru with shoe polish soft paint, and a new vw with what feels like much harder paint. I live in new england and normally use Sonax poly net shield as a final sealant, but sometimes add a coat of carnuba (out of boredom as much as anything). Due to winter weather my cars can go up to four months without a detail and fresh LSP.

I love the idea of using ONR in the garage during the winter months. From viewing youtube tips, I like the idea of blotting dry and then final drying after lightly spritzing either the panel or towel with either Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer or Opti Spray Wax. I don't want to create too many steps and too much contact with the surface but would like to avoid swirls or marring as much as possible during drying.

Given the mushy finishes I am working with, does anyone suggest or have experience with any combination of the above; for example, cleaning with ONR and drying with Detailer, or cleaning with ONR and drying with spray wax, or ... ?

Thank you! Any comments or insight is much appreciated.

Why not air dry with a compressor, leaf blower, master blaster or some other tool that is forced air?

I would use the softest mitt and towels you can find
Pre-soak the panel with ONR, then was wish a super soft mitt or mega plush towel
Dry with a leaf blower, they make very small compact cordless leaf blowers now or get a master blaster
Then spray wax for added protection, spray the panel and mist the towel too

ONR has worked well on soft Honda paint for me. like the other poster said pre treat with ONR and use the softest wash media you can. leaf blower may not be a bad idea as long as you are not using a gas one in your garage. I have been using coatings the last few years so if any marring where to happen it is in the coating not the cc.

Thank you both for the solid advice. I'll give it a try. I do have a couple of decent electric blowers for drying too.

    Hi Rothbard,
I'm in your area too. How do you like the products, and what is your experience with ONR indoors , in the winter? I have a gallon of ONR wash and shine, and a gallon of Meguiars rinse free too - both unopened. Plus I drive a 13 Passat TDI SEL.

    Thanks,
    Jim
