[IMG]So I brought my girlfriend's 2006 SUBARU STi to get detailed by my buddy who has a couple high end cars under his belt. Upon collecting the car from him I noticed the hood has this cloudiness to it. It is almost invisible in the shade but it is very evident in direct sunlight and looks absolutely terrible. He thinks he can sand it to fix it but I am not sure I am comfortable with him doing that now. Can anybody explain what he has done and if it is repairable. If it is, how? Please see pics for details of "damage"

I can't tell too well by the pictures, but that almost looks like a burn through. Do you know if your buddy used a rotary or a dual action?

As said before Looks like a burn through. I would check it with a paint gauge. As it looks very thin from the pictures.

x3 on a burn through. IF that is the case, then you are looking at painting the hood.

Yep, that's a burn mark. Sanding it will make it worse. You have to have it painted, no other way around it

Yup that's a burn for sure. I agree with everyone else . Don't do anything else because it will get worse and add more damage . Leave it alone and find out how much it's going to be to paint it again .

Looks like this friendship is in need of forgiveness.
