    Hey Guys,

Anybody have a car washing water containment mats? I want to pick one up for inside my shop. Smart wax-USA has one for $499 and it looks very similar to the chemguys'.

Any thought? Want to pick up quickly

    Thanks

    Nick

I have never used one . But as far as those 2 looking the same. If I remember correctly the 2 companies are one in the same . Or very closely related.

a few guys have had problems with the mats.

Richard L and David S, both Cali guys had their mats rip and fail.

Edit: especially the inflatable ones had a problem.

I've had the chemical guys mat for a year. it sucks. didn't hold air after a week. I modified it to hold foam berms (pool noodles) which actually worked pretty well for awhile. Then over the course of time the seams split on all 4 sides. I ran across this thread while searching for options on what to replace it. haven't found a great solution yet.

I did see the smart wax thing. Might be the same as the CG mat because it doesnt say 'chemical guys' anywhere on it. some other manufacturer that mainly does inflatable beds is actually making them

I picked one up used a few years ago ( i think 6 ) and use it in my shop all winter long. I believe it came from Rightlook.com. Its 10x20 and the berms are foam I believe. It'll hold well over 100 gallons of water and after 6 years of use, it still has zero leaks anywhere. Back then the retail price was around $1200 for the mat I think. Given that the less expensive ones fall apart, it's good value.

I'm going to be looking for a mat as well or some form of solution to contain water as I try to open a shop.

I have the Chemical Guys mat and yes, it was a disappointment.

Should probably look into that "blue" mat I see people like Bob / AutoConcierge use. Not cheap from what I hear, but the rare times someone peeps up about it, it's good news.

SmartWax is part of Chemical Guys

I have not used a mat, but I have heard that a boom system attached to a wet vac is much more efficient and satisfies the applicable wastewater management regu
