I believe this is the first of my work that I have posted to this forum... For this detail, I did not do much documentation as I was removing an old coating that had held up decent. The truck had done 24,000 miles in 10 months since it was coated upon delivery. This puts it beyond the expected service life of the previous coating. It was first polished using POLISHANGEL Master Compound, which, when paired with either RUPES microfiber pads or the POLISHANGEL Lambswool ultra cut pad, left no noticeable haze. The reason I used this medium compound first was to ensure that all of the previous coating was removed. Here is a phone picture to show the finish after Master Compound and the Lambswool pad, the reason I think it finished down so well is due to the harder, ceramiclear paint: This section of the tailgate had some deeper scratches due to some critters climbing into the bed of the truck: Which cleaned up quite nicely (photo is a little shaky): How the Lambswool pads fit on the RUPES: Seats cleaned with bellaclean: For efficiency, I followed Invincible | Primer with the Color-Matched Cosmic panel by panel, keeping Primer 2 panels ahead and timing each panel individually for removal. Each of the 2 following coats of Cosmic were applied by hand. And, the after photos: Orange peel is horrendous but the gloss is still there on top Thanks for viewing!
I have a 09 Sport Blue Ford Fusion and I agree with the orange peel being bad. I am still able to make it look as good if not better than the day I bought it though.
Thank you! A coating that cleans easy is pretty much essential for vehicles this big There's no way to safely remove the factory orange peel without a full respray, which would be a tremendous cost for this truck.
How are you liking PolishAngel products? I know you switched from using Gtechniq to Polishangel right? What convinced you to make the switch? Also I haven't found a whole lot of information on Polishangel Glasscoat, is there any long term durability tests going on right now with that product?
Yes but on factory paint, especially waterborne base, there can be greater amounts of peel in the base coat which is where I suspect most of this is coming from. polishangel products are all extremely easy to use and give the vehicle a greater appearance than what I have found in other products. The reflectiveness, surface clarity and gloss are impressive. I saw a video just a couple days ago of Cosmic beading & sheeting like new after a year, I'll see if I can find it. The first vehicle I applied Cosmic to back in August is still holding up good as new even though the owner doesn't wash it properly. I love how it is named simply 'Blue Jeans'
