Hey guys!! Were a detail shop based out of lower michigan and you can imagine that we are going to be dealing with a flurry of interiors that need salt removed once the weather breaks. We Have a VX5000 steamer with the brass attachments and also a MyteeLite Extractor.... but does anyone have a specific product or tip they use to effectively remove salt thats been worked into carpeted areas? The brass attachment on the steamer works pretty well but can start to really tear up the carpets if not careful, the extractor obviously works well but will not penetrate really baked on salt. If anyone is a wiz at chemistry, what chemical will break down salt that could possibly be used to remove it safely? Thanks!!!
What are you using with your initial vacuuming? The brush attachments that attach directly to a DA are amazing at really loosening fibers and allowing your vacuum to get deep down.
Were using some brass brushes for older plush carpet that wont harm or put marks into it.... but other than that the only DA brush attachments ive seen dont have that stiff of bristles....and the salt im dealing with is hard to the point where you can stab it with a screwdriver and it wont budge.
If they are that hard, you might try soaking them in some container of hot water...? Maybe with Vinegar or Hydrogen Peroxide... I live in SoCal, so no experience with salt like that here, just thoughts...
I got a can of Salt Eraser spray from my Finishmaster store last year. It does work. I use a stiff brush and break up the crust by dry scrubbing,then spray the salt eraser and extract. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHja2Iwy2B8
