So we have been getting hammered with low temps and snow in the NE. Today is 29 and sunny, the dilemma is as follows:

13 Charger RT Black top and 13 Durango RT Black top daily drivers both parked outside, both filthy with snow and salt from NYC streets. Currently wearing DG501/601 and topped with D156 after every wash. Only have access to hand car washes and swirl-o-matics, no coin operated self serve and no drains in garage to wash it myself. Hand wash does not use power washer to remove bulk of salt and dirt, swirl-o-matic does use power washer.

Last wash took both of them to hand wash and they scratched the painted wheels with too much pressure and dirty towels. So what do I do? Leave them till I can wash them, swirl-o-matic with power washer, hand wash with no power washer? Any suggestions?

I'm in the same boat my car and the wifey's are just sitting with a lovely salt coating till it's warm enough and I have a day off to break out the pressure washer.

Oh man this sucks! I do detailing part time and would just love to open a hand wash utilizing power washers, foam guns/cannon, grit guards, leaf blowers and quality MF towels. Nobody has a place like this by me. Have the know how and capital but no time and no place.

I know how you feel...and I know the LSP on my GTI and my BF's Passat is long gone as well. I'm waiting until it rains and washes all the salt off the roads, then I'm gonna go to a touchless car wash and get most of the grime off of them, and when we get a warm-ish day I'll ONR wash them both. It's looking like we will be getting some mid-40's temperatures by the end of the week so hopefully this can happen soon. There's so much grime on the back of my car that you can't see your reflection in the paint.

I feel your pain brother ... I only had a chance to do a quick wash and wax on my wife's Outback last weekend. Both of my cars, haven't been touched in months. Interiors are filthy and there's nothing I can do about it. Propane heaters have 3-4 lead times in my area.

We are also experiencing crazy temperature drops in VA. We are hitting some 40-45 deg. temps, but it's usually at 3-4pm, you only have a few hours to wash a vehicle and the temp drops back down super fast.

welcome to my world, every day, all winter.

All i can really suggest is to go to a coin-op with a power washer and blast the salt off. I wouldnt dry it or touch the paint at all until you can give it a proper wash. Getting the bulk of that road salt off is the big thing

Agreed. This is what I do and when a milder day comes around I give it a proper two-bucket hand wash.

Doesn't matter at this point, storm after storm after storm. It's pointless, I quick drive and it is filthy again.

dealing with the same nonsense on LI. I found a Texas style carwash in Island Park. I went really early with 2 buckets loaded with warm water and soap in 1 and water in the other. Rinsed the car down with the pressure washer. soaped the whole car up starting at top working down, used 2 BM. Cleaned wheels with cleaner, WW, brushes and the somewhat clean-ish rinse water bucket. If you can oick up some window wash gloves or skin-diver gloves, they were a big help. Temp was about 32 degrees but in the stall with warm water I got the deed done. NO fun, but necessary.

Dumped all the water in buckets, loaded the tokens into the machines. Rinsed it all down, including wells and undercarriage.

Dried with several DD drying towels. Jumped on parkway home to blow out all the water from crevices. At home, did windows (Uber glass towel/stoners) and Jambs (with ONR). Dressed tires and boy did that feel good, for about 48 hrs. till it snowed.

Garry dean method, 1z perls, hot water 2 bucket method. Works every time and will save your hands or buy bikers weather gloves, they work amazing.

Washed it today with a laser touch less. Omg it looks like a white kid with orange and black freckles! It is bad.

I then dried with waffle weave and Meg's WWWA and then wiped down with DG RWWA almost went through both bottles. Gonna need a ton of decon comes this spring.

Just washed our cars today and yesterday. I ended up just doing regular ONR washes, but I doubled the amount of ONR I put in the wash bucket to be on the safe side. The rain we got the other day got a lot of the salt and dirt off my car so mostly I was just washing off the grime that's accumulated since the cars were last washed.
