Hey everyone. It's been quite a while since I've posted up any work. I moved my shop into a new location, so it has been a heactic summer to say the least. I worked on this Callaway Corvette a while back and thought I'd post it up...

The owner of this sweet Callaway Edition Z06 Corvette brought the car to us at Unique Car Care for a complete detail with Opti-Coat, full frontal clear bra install and window tint to get it looking better than new and protect the paint from stone chips, etc…

Before the install, we gave the exterior a proper prep to make sure the paint was as perfect as possible. This included a hand wash, claybar treatment (removes bonded contaminants), then polished the entire exterior to ensure there weren’t any scratches or blemishes present before the clear bra and Opti-coat. After the paint was free of all contaminants and defects, we gave the paint surface a wipe down using a prep solvent to remove any oils, waxes or sealants that could possibly interfere with the film adhering to the paint surface properly.

Before the clear bra install, my window tint installer applied 45% window tint to all windows, which meets Massachusetts state tint laws. Law enforcement has really been cracking down on dark window tint lately and it is considered a moving violation, so the customer wanted to make sure the windows were 100% legal. It totally complimented the car and will help keep the car cool during the summer months.

As far as clear bra coverage, the customer wanted the full front bumper, complete hood (including hood bulge), complete fenders, side mirrors, headlights and rocker panels wrapped.

We perform a fully custom install instead of using pre-cut kits. Pre-cut kits typically have lots of critical areas that don't get covered and are prone to stone damage, not to mention lots of unnecessary seams. By performing a fully custom install, we use bulk film and are able to have all seams very close to any openings (park distance sensors, reflectors, headlights, foglights, etc.) for a cleaner install with added coverage. In addition, all edges are completely wrapped over (hood, fenders, etc.) as seen below.

    First up was the hood…

Not only is it important to cover all high-impact areas of the paint, it is also important to cover the headlights. Headlights typically pick up lots of stone chips and can result in reduced visibility while driving at night.

Lastly, we wrapped the carbon fiber rocker panels…

We used Xpel Ultimate film for this install, which has great clarity, no orange peel and has a clearcoat topcoat. The best thing about the film is that is has self-healing properties if you happen to scratch it at some point. Any type of heat (sunlight, engine heat, hot water, etc. will promote the self healing and the scratches will disappear. It also has great UV protection and will not discolor, fade or get cloudy like other films on the market. Most films look great when first installed, but typically degrade not even a year later. This film is backed with a 10 year warranty.

    Here are the final results!

    Thanks Phil!

Here's a couple pictures from my phone. I still have to hang my signs and finish a few things, but much more room than the old shop for sure.
