hello all . want to throw this info out there for anyone that may run into this. i have been through 3 gen2s and i am currently using a gen3 . honestly this one has lasted the longest and has been used the most. the last few times i have used it i noticed the torque seemed diminished and the unit seemed easier to stop with uneven pressure. also sometimes it would not start up. i would turn the switch off and back on and it would fire up.

well yesterday the problem seemed worse and the unit was stopping on its on and finally sputtered and died. well as i have in the past i decided to change brushes and see what happens . when i inspected the brushes they seemed to have plenty of surface left on them but i removed cleaned the armature where the brushes contact and install the new brushes......well the unit fired right up and seemed to perform like new power wise. now if i remember from my rc car days the brush should be usable until it wears all the way down . these where about %50. they are larger then the spare brushes that come with the gen2 though and based on the amount of wear i saw compared to my last gen2 i will have to say these are a softer compound which i believe will give the same motor more power. not sure why the old ones would stop working but when i look at one of them it appears burned. so i am guessing that is the culprit .

so if any ones unit stop working i suggest changing the brushes even if they appear to have sufficient material remaining

thanks for bringing this up to everyones attention. this could have been an easy (maybe not) fix for most who have sent their 'defective' unit back under warranty. i could be wrong but i think if you try fixing/changing the brushes out it voids the warranty, which wouldn't make sense since they include them...

I actually had to replace mine today...they had almost the same amount left on the brushes. luckily i had the spares that came with the unit and it was an easy 5 minute fix tops.
