Hi,

I don't know if it's me or I don't see a lot of choice when it comes to washing mitts. I've been wondering what happened with the sheepskin mitts (100% Sheepskin Mitt With Thumb) they seem to have disappeared.

Are they coming back or I should look into another mitt ?

I'm in need of new mitts so any suggestions ?

I started using the Meg's MF mitt Ken recommended they work really well and the uber sponge is really good too.

 

Thanks for your reply. I will give them a try for sure. I thought the sheepskin mitts were softer and better for washing which made them easier on making swirls but I might be wrong.

Any thoughts on the CarPro Wool Wash Mitt ?

Only negative point would be its one sided. I do like to flip my mitt around even tho I use on for the upper body and one for the lower body.

 

The Carpro Wool Mitt is the other mitt we sell. Another fantastic choice.

I have a few of the meg's mf mitts and use them but they are not my favorites for some reason. It has to do with the feel but not saying they are not paint safe.

 

Preventing swirls has a lot less to do with the type of wash mitt you use, in my experience. The best thing you can do is a very thorough pre rinse with a quality pressure washer and then pre foam with the pressure washer foam cannon (better clinging better dirt removal). Also, not over exhausting your mitt when doing the washing, by this I mean not trying to wash too much at once while the mitt loses soap...if you wash a fender and then keep going onto the door without recharging / dunking your mitt with more soap then that's more friction on the door. Recharging the mitt frequently and rinsing it in your rinse bucket is important. Also, the type of LSP you have on the surface makes a huge difference. The slicker it is, the less dirt sticks and less agitation required, well you get the idea.

I say all that (which probably everyone already knows) to say that you can use the megiuars MF mitt perfectly safely. I prefer it over sheepskin because it is more tactile on body panels, it releases soap solution better, and if well kept, they are very soft. Plus being white, they'll help indicate of you're picking up excess dirt and need to thoroughly rinse the mitt out before you keep on with it. I was looking for the best mitt to maintain with, and I have been finding this Megs mitt the perfect solution when used correctly as described above.

 

Thanks AmpBMW for your post. I agree with you and I get the idea of the process on how you wash your car is more important than the mitt itself.

I do pre rinse the car at first and then use my Riccardo foam lance to soap the whole car. Rinse it again and start with the two buckets method.

I just though there might be some mitts finish that would create marring or swirls. To be honest, I always though microfiber would keep more the dirt than other materials.

I still will give a try to both.
