GT-R was in pretty rough shape after some poor bodyshop work, and the owner wanted it looking proper again. 3 steps of corrective work and 28hrs later it was looking as it should.

Not sure what these spots were, but they would not wash or clay off.

Typical bodyshop work....crank up the rotary buffer with a wool pad and dry-buff the paint.....sigh....

Plenty of swirls in the soft GT-R paint

    50/50 on the hood

    Before...

    After a quick 50/50 for a side-by-side comparison

Bumper didn't have as many swirls, but the RIDS were extensive and required heavy compounding to level out.

After heavy compounding the defects were all removed. The haze from aggressive compounding would be eliminated with several polishing steps to restore the gloss

Rear deck and spoiler needed a lot of work....

50/50 after initial compounding on the rear spoiler. More work was to follow to eliminate even more defects....

Clarity restored and final polishing to come in order to amp the gloss up further

    Passenger side issues....

Some buffer-hop marks? Sure why not....the bodyshop is just batting a thousand

How about some severe overspray? Yep that was there too.

    After compounding, hope returns

    Swirls in the tails....

    Clarity restored

28 hrs is great timing for that mess! Great Job!
Those water spots may have been some highly concentrated "concrete cleaning" wash soap.... that dried to the paint? who knows....? Who cares.... Great Job Jeff!

Once a body shop told me, "oh overspray and light swirl marks are inevitable on high gloss finishes, there's no avoiding them even new cars have those"

    yep
