Doing shady stuff

Sometimes folks will try stuff that they think nobody will notice to be cute, when in reality they prove to anyone who can see what they did just how much failNESS they have going on. Note** if you use a buddy to bump a OLD thread on various forums when you have nothing to post about(Recent work) make sure that if they have three posts two of them are not bumping year old threads.

Lesson learned is "I miss nothing" and the other lesson might be to "Smarten up and do things right" as with this mindset you only hurt yourself with this kind of stuff and the blatant copycat "Me 2" posts as well. Usually I put a name to these kind of posts but the person in question has had me admonish them before........................and it was harsh then but if they think about it and look inward they would see that only hard work and doing things with a code of honesty will get them were they need to be, otherwise they are fodder for conversations among certain groups who thinks of them in passing as someone who deserves no respect.

I know your thread isn't directed at me but, I am about to go on a bumping spree myself of some of my old threads..

Why? Because for the first time I have room for more than just a couple new customers this season.

I have plenty of pictures of vehicles that are recent and unposted but I lack the time to put together these write ups.

Not trying to sling shyte at you or anything, just giving your another perspective.

Really? bumping year old and more threads does not seem questionable to you especially if you are a new member somewhere and two of your five posts bump a certain person's year old threads..................... on two different write ups?. We all know what right and wrong is, and most of the time stuff like this is not pointed out as it is not really a big deal in most peoples minds.

I assert that when someone gets away with borderline stuff like this unchecked they reach further and further the next time as they feel "Well I got away with it" and most if they see this might want to say something but are afraid too as they don't want to "Rock the boat" as some I know are like "Jeez Bob enough already, why be such a hard a** all the time", well society is like it is because most go along to get along and it's shenanigans as the intent is not honest end stop.

The person this is directed at can do better, and he is held to higher standard and as I rode him hard before to change the way he was doing things and if he says in his mind "Forget you....................... I will do what I want" which is fine but I am BTDT in life and those who pull mess always seem to get ahead but end up losing in the end. In the past I would have named names.......................... and there is a whole lot more to the story than this tidbit believe it so to the guy this is directed at look yourself in the mirror and say to yourself "Maybe a change of course is needed".

New members (fake accounts) created just to bump a thread to me is comical, not shady...

In the "real world" this would be akin to:

I find an old advertising pamphlet for my business
I see a person that I previously gave the advertising pamphlet to
I dont want to approach the person again so I have my friend approach the prospect and deliver the advertising pamphlet

When I break it down like this, it seems more silly to me and not shady..

I believe what Bob is taking offense to is the lack of ethics behind said practice. And he does have a point. Would you trust your vehicle to someone without any business ethics?

I know Jason personally and absolutely trust him. I would have him do my car; that's something I would say about precious few.

I am only playing devils advocate in this thread as I don't have a horse in this race but I'm just wondering if you could point out in my "real world" examples what is unethical?

I have bumped some of my own threads and I just don't see how that's unethical but I am here to learn....

    Thanks Rich...

I am not the person Bob is talking about. I Stay out of the "detailing limelight" but like I said, I stepped into this thread because I (as well as many others) have bumped their own threads.. The only diff here is supposedly a new account bumped some thread Bob is talkin about... Like I said, I find that silly (as opposed to unethical) for someone to go to such effort to bump a thread when they could just do so with their own account...

Anyhow, I feel like I am talking to the wind so I will dip out....

I say shady........you say silly, either way it should not be done and if you do it and think it's a good thing then a re-eval is in order. We all know what is right and blurring that line does not make it right no matter how hard you try.

All business regardless of what it is has people willing to cross the line.............the question is will you or should you?, that is for everyone to decide for themselves but I choose not too proudly.

Why bump old stuff? I revamp my product list every year. I don't want my customers thinking they're getting nothing but the latest and greatest.

I'm just going to restate the previously mentioned scenarios as I see absolutely nothing wrong with either of the below. Both are somewhat comparable with the beef at hand, excluding the imposter accounts, which. I Wouldn't do as again, I simply don't have time/need for.

#1 I found an old advertising pamphlet for my business. I see a person that I previously gave the advertising pamphlet to. I approach the person and deliver the advertising pamphlet

#2 I have plenty of pictures of vehicles that are recent and unposted but I lack the time to put together these write ups.

In regards to latest and greatest, my customer base is very observant of time stamps and very vocal / inquisitive .

Bob, I respect your work and honestly don't have a beef with you... This thread just caught my attention as somewhat cryptic and absolute

I do not think the person in question is going to be shamed into changing behavior by this thread especially when dealing with Internet etiquette.

It is like the definition of where line is between advocate to shill (or just the opposite, shammer) of a product, brand, company, owner, etc.

Bob's "call out" is to the person Bob suspects is not man enough to bump his own thread, but using others or another membership by the same person to do so.

I have experience in both owning and running forums. And yes, there were members who did just what Bob is referencing. Typically, they would do so to try to strengthen a point they were arguing; go past the point of harmless bantering; stir the pot to piss off the entire membership (which can prove quite successful); lower the popularity of said forum. Given what forum moderators' have to endure I have no desire to have or moderate a forum again—unless they are private, with verified/restricted membership for full substantiation and accountability (as I do with the HOA where I reside).

This was not giving a old pamphlet out, we all know this. I want this young guy who has good qualities to him shake off the silly stuff and stick to doing it right even though I am annoyed at him. Cryptic was better this time as it was not needed to blow it out when a "I see what you are doing and if you keep it up I will out you" was good enough but time will tell.

If I took a survey of most people I feel that the point I made is not because I think I am right, but what is the right thing to do so you do not play in those grey areas of being cute n dubious as if you are doing good work people notice so why do questionable stuff?? just do the right thing when everyONE else does not and be a leader not a follower.
