Recently completed Golf R in the shop that had a little "Patina".

How it looked at the onset of the work to be completed.

Time for Daniel and I to now do a 1.5 hour wash.............................

The car is only a few months old, but the real issue was the dreaded water spot etch.

    Scuffs in the finish.

CG gel work for the spots, repeated applications were the "Plan of the day".

    Undeniable results.

    Etching everywhere.

Nice job bringing it back to to the condition it deserves. What is your method with GC waterspot remover? I have tried it but never really got the results; applied it with a foam app after washer and rinsed thoroughly I see your are using a mf, have you had better results that way?

The best advice for using this is you need to rub and rub till the spots soften and release by the gel or polishing them away. The microfiber towel gives the gel more bite.

Owner put the correct tail lights in as well. Nice car, and an amazing job as usual.

Nice job you two. Crazy thin paint!!! I know the feeling, I just did a Corolla that had reads in the 80's that was less than a year old.

Also I found that the CG Water Spot Remover melted foam applicator the first time I used it.

Beautiful work :) How many hours went into this little car? What products did you use for the compound/polish?

I did utilize Menzerna FG400 quite a bit, as for the other stuff that will not be mentioned.

Why are you guys surprised Bob did a Golf R? He did a GTI a while back IIRC.
Plenty of people regardless of where they fall on the payroll scale want the best, and honestly If I didnt know how to do this Id seek someone out of Bob's caliber.

You get what you pay for in life....... literally.

Also, most insurance companies will pay for water spot removal. falls under comprehensive with my policy............

Spoke to a local detail and he said, "Don't care how expensive the car is, every car deserves to look good even a Pontiac Aztec."

Bob, are the results shown in the before & afters of the water spot etching just from rubbing the CG Water Spot Remover in with a MF, or the combo of the chemical and then compunding?

The gel & compounding as there was marring in the finish as well, the trick to removing the spots is there is no trick. When they are bad the gel will need to be utilized for many applications with firm rubbing until they are removed or you can get them to release through compounding, of course you can whip out the rotary and a wool pad but then you have zipped way more material than needed and even though I want correction I also want to preserve the finish for the client in the future.
