I was wondering what everyone prefers for their wash media? I have been using Adams jumbo wash pads for my car but was thinking of switching to the Uber Sponges. The sponges seem much cheaper and economical, but how safe are they from causing swirls. My car gets pretty dirty. Are they worth a try or should I stick with wool based wash pads.

For a car that's getting a maintenance wash, I prefer using a sponge, but for a car that's getting it's first detail or that has not yet been polished, then I generally use a mitt.

I use either one. It depends on my mood. But if its really nasty, a mitt for sure. I like the uber sponges as well.

Thank you everyone. I live on a dirt road and have to drive my car daily so I assume that a mitt would be my best bet.

I picked up the LC blue grout sponge, but haven't used it. I have, however, used my Adam's wash pad and love it. I researched the part number on the bag and an SM Arnold wash pad popped up. The SM Arnold's wash pad had a considerably lower price.

Megs MF wash mitt or Carpro Merino Wool mitt. Pre rinse your car properly and you won't have to worry about the wash medium.

Make SURE you are pre-soaking with at least some ONR or something and you won't have to worry much about what type of media you use...My DD construction work truck, I have let it go MONTHS through rainy season, driving down rock and mud job sites, and after it all, pre-soaked and sprayed it down and that took care of enough of the majority of RIDS and swirl causing debris, I was comfortable using a HD Grout Sponge. I checked after, compared to my befores from months prior and not many swirls had been induced, and the ones that were I am guessing weren't even from me washing.

i use either the lowes GS or zymol sponge and haven't had a problem with either of them. IME, i feel it cleans better than other most other wash media's and i try not to over the same section too many times in one pass (w/ too much pressure) which can create swirls/marring. everyone has their own preferences and the best thing to do is try which ever one interests you and go from there, they're not for everyone....
